Hi Russ... excited to see you using and reviewing RoguePanda. I found them a few years ago and as you probably learned Nick is awesome to work with. I have a 2016 Salsa Fargo and I did the same thing with sending in a picture with tape measure. I wanted a frame bag but didn't want it to fill the entire triangle. I have a large framed Fargo. Nick was able to do just what I asked and that was to leave that area that on the seat tube open for the water bottle cage. It actually looks sort of cool having that area still available and the bag stops just short of that yet has plenty of storage. He was able to give me a divider wall inside the bag that made separate compartments. Sort of a floor to it and I could either use it or flatten it open so to have full access. He could explain that part better. What I found about RoguePanda is their quality. The bag is super well made. Very durable. Like you said with the bigger zippers etc. Attention to detail. He even made me a water tight pocket inside the frame-bag for my phone just to be sure in case of a downpour. I have ordered four bags from him probably from within the first year of having my bike. Two custom and two that they call universal stock items. They were different styles of tool bags called the "Oracle." It is a small bag but probably my favorite and connects to the down tube under it. The one I got from him is not on his site but he could probably still make it. It had the zipper versus the new style is a roll pouch. The zippered one was the best IMO but the pouch holds more. It is crazy quality too and he uses nothing but the best in way of Velcro straps that are rubberized where they touch your frame. Backs that up with a quality buckle closure and that thing is not coming off!! The other custom item I bought was a handle bar bag to match the frame bag. (Black/Camo) He outdid himself on that one too with good quality and added a zipper across the top to give me the access I wanted. I am picky and Nick was patient and listened and was always polite and professional. They give you some decals of the Panda head too which is sort of cool for the car window.

I own 2 custom full frame bags from Rogue Panda, they are great and their customer service is excellent. I have a black one and a camo panda one.

Custom frame bags are the only way to go. Congrats for getting one. Quite cool.... even though I also make bags, Rouge Panda is one that I always enjoy seeing.

have noticed your frame bag many times. Spent much time trying to figure out thru searching "traditional" bike packing bag company websites looking for that elusive bag. Did not binge watch or go backwards thru your videos, would have saved me some time. Did learn about other bags in the process. Thanks for this video though. I loved the pattern of your frame bag, it may be my Christmas gift to myself. So appeciate the other content you produce.

I got a Rogue Panda bag for my adventure bike. I love it. It fits perfectly. I got the lacing tie on top (no Velcro) and the bottle cage mounts.

A good tip would have been to photograph the bike with bottles on. I’m quite keen on the possibility of ordering a tweedy style bag for my vintage three speed!

They know how long the standard Purist bottles are and design around them. Would be more important to allow a clear view of mounting bolts.

Suggestion - place sticking tape vertically at the back of the measuring tape across the top tube & down tube so the tape numbers & bike frame aren't obscured.
@roguepandadesigns5 жыл бұрын
No worries there - we only need to see two marks on the ruler to get a distance, so it doesn't matter if some of the ruler is covered up.

How would it be using a dropper post on a gravel bike? Do you see any use for it or benefits?

If you're doing rougher more technical riding it can be very handy for smooth dirt roads I don't think it's necessary

Love the design/process. I'm currently debating between which half frame bag I went to get for my 54cm Salsa Journeyman, any suggestions?
@edge8edge5 жыл бұрын
When I think of half bag I think of the one like Russ just got here as being a half bag. The one I got from RoguePanda I had them fill the frame triangle top to bottom but leave about 5 to 6 inches away from the seat tube so i could get into and still have that water bottle that stands vertically on the seat tube. I thought I would regret not getting the full bag but I end up liking it as it's plenty storage and didn't loose that water cage. Of course later I got one like the one Russ has and love it too for certain rides.
@nicksmolinske77865 жыл бұрын
@@edge8edge Yeah, that's an under-utilized option in my opinion. It's a great way to go!

Who makes that frame?
@theegor14725 жыл бұрын
Russ, why don't you use stainless steel water bottles? They feel more in line with the supple life to me. I use Hydro Flasks (vacuum insulated) with their sport tops that have air inlets, and hold them down with King Cage Iris cages (I've never lost my bottles while tossing the bike around on crazy terrain). I get great tasting cool water, with no plastic leach (which becomes worse the warmer the water becomes in plastic bottles).

Wouldn't it be easier for them if you just send them the inner triangle measurements?
@PathLessPedaledTV3 жыл бұрын
What’s easier than taking a photo? Working off a 1:1 photo is more accurate so you can also design around bottle bosses did some one wants to bolt the bag on. It also compensated for any measuring mistakes from people.

Just to save some time for anyone else who can actually use a sewing machine, this video doesn't have *any* information about "how to make a custom frame bag." It's just an ad for a made-to-measure company. I was hoping to get some tips on sealing seams but the entire contents of the video were an introduction, the manufacturer explaining that they use a digital photo and projector to scale the template and lay out strap locations, and then the presenter restating the exact same information. The weirdest thing about the clickbait title is that nobody with the skills to make a custom bag would buy one of these, though they do look like a cool option for people who aren't interested in experimenting and learning on their own.
