what quantity of wood did you purchase? How many feet of 2x3 and 2x4. This will give me a better idea of how much wood I should buy. Great video!

Hi this was done a while back now, i did use the untreated stud work timber which i then treated, then the canopy itself keeps it dry. If you add the measurements up on the video you should get an approx amount to buy x

Some people put the braces on the gallows brackets at 90 degrees to how you have them so that the meat of the wood is under compression. Plus they are sometimes morticed. On yours the fixings could be hidden with plug cuts. Also seen the ends of the brackets made ornate, even just a chamfered edge. Good job nonetheless.

Helpful video. Very clear. Thanks. I’m Wondering how the rain gets off the edge, won’t the water run against the back of the trim board?
@diydan13943 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yeah it will run down the wood, maybe adjust this by adding bitumen to the top of the wood

Hi Dan I watched your loft conversion video and it inspired me todo the same it took me 6 months to do in my spare time , and it looks great ! I like the porch video but I would like to add posts so it looks more like a open porch any ideas?
@diydan13943 жыл бұрын
Amazing news thank you for sharing, if possible could you search DIYDAN FACEBOOK in Google, mine should be nr the top. Could you share some pictures of your loft conversion, you can send them straight to me or post on my group, if you don't mind sharing. With the porch I use some big 6"x6" posts but set them in the ground with mortor using metal supports. Then mount the porch on to these and the wall.

Hey that was great! But can you do a video or refer one showing how to safely add it to a house exterior with siding. How do we know drilling it in would hold it?
@diydan13944 жыл бұрын
Hi thank you for your message, I will try and get a video showing how to fasten it to your house. I used large fixing bolts that I drilled into the bricks of my house. You can purchase them here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184347484470

Winner of a video, I've been looking for "how to build a gable truss roof" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Beybigail Nonpareil Breakthrough - (do a search on google ) ? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to create better sheds and improve your woodworking without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.

Can the cladding just be plyboard?
@diydan13942 жыл бұрын
Why not.. Hey use whatever wood you have, my channel is mostly about working with recycled materials and keeping to a budget. Sand it down and varnish the ply you should see some nice wood grain. It might not last 15years but you can always replace that cladding 😊

Hi what are the lengths Of each piece of wood
@diydan13944 жыл бұрын
Hi, this design is so flexible. Depending on your door size you can make it as wide, long, high as you like to fit your door. If you want the slope on the apex not to be as steep work to 35deg angle. I hope this helps 😊
