THIS. Other patching videos don't address this issue of texture matching. THANK YOU for your thoroughness and attention to detail.☀

Thank you! I just moved into a 4 year old house and my destructive family has already created several blemishes in the walls. Regular patching really stands out. I look forward to attempting this method.

I like your voice. It's very soothing and friendly. Thanks for the tutorial! 😎 Edit: once I got to the thin spackling section around 4:30 I realized I was watching straight up unintentional ASMR 😂 I like it.

Thank you! I never know what to do after sanding and painting and yes, you can tell there is a difference... Thankfully all the jobs I have done are hardly visible so not an issue per se but great to know! PS: for those of you who think that contractors do it better well NO. Absolutely not. It's usually a disaster. I have yet to find someone who knows how to patch a hole!

Great video! I just finished first coat of paint on one wall in my garage and all the spackle spots are showing through. Definitely going to try this tip.

Great trick exactly what I was hoping to find on all these other "professional" videos. Probably the #1 part of patching that most people are worried and they all omitted it.

Awesome video. Thank you. I just bought my house and videos like this help out since I have never done any handyman type things. The only other thing that might help is a list of tools used so when I head over to Lowe's I can say "This is what I need" :-)

I have filled thousands of patches in my work and have never tried this. I typically just do a few coats with a coarse roller on it to try to hide it better before I do a full room paint. I will give this a shot and see how it works.

I think if you do a few coats of paint it will give the spot the texture it should. But cool idea you have there 👍

Yup. I usually do 2 or 3 coats when painting and it looks like new

@@thehound1359 I wish it worked but no... it depends on the texture of your walls :/

Wondering if you can use this method to fix a spot that were poorly patched or do you have to cut it out and start again?

I’m curious about this too. Did you ever find the answer? Can I just sand the blotchy paint down?

What would be really awesome - is if you put on "deadpool" costume gloves while doing these videos. It would be AMAZING.

@@BillSWi roll damp paint roller over final skim coat of plaster as the pre existing texture on the wall is from a paint roller

This might actually help if you could have filmed this with something other than a potato. You could not see the difference in the texture on the wall and patch, after you applied the paper towel. You owe me five minutes of my life back.
