@crazyglasslady2 ай бұрын
Welcome to the channel and thanks so much! Yes everyone has there own way of doing it. I actually started by tumbling for a week to make faux sea glass and then started trying all types of glass art. Tumbling is so easy to do for 1-2 hour and it actually cleans it in the process so saves you a step. Then its like magic you can't cut yourself.
@chocchip21me622 ай бұрын
I love it great idea. I've been enjoying your videos n thinking of trying it but didn't want to order or drive all the way to the store that might have the glass. So seeing now that you can just nip the glass is helpful. Now to check prices on a tumbler. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Yes many of my videos I just use old vases and glass that I picked up at a garage sale. Please start with something small so that you do not get discouraged. I am happy to answer any questions along the way. This is a 3 lb tumbler that I use alot I have one in the garage for tumbling with grit and I have had it for years it is very reliable. I just bought a new one to keep in the house to use just to smooth glass with just the water. what ever tumbler you end up with be sure you get one with at least a 3lb capacity amzn.to/48hYGQE

So pretty! Is it possible to do resin over vintage jewelry? Thanks
@crazyglassladyАй бұрын
I think it is best to set it in the resin and not pour over it because the stones can be effected by it. for example if it is facetted you will lose the cuts and it will look rounded and if it is iridescent or sparkly you risk losing those qualities also.
@kellyjean49812 ай бұрын
You mentioned that the tumbling only cleans the glass and that is does NOT remove sharp edges, but then when you took it out of the tumbler you mentioned that the glass no longer has sharp edges. Could you clarify that please? This is a beautiful project. I love the colour shift in the fabric
@crazyglasslady2 ай бұрын
@@kellyjean4981 no I said the dish soap the Dawn power wash that I squirted in there after I covered it with water only cleans the glass. It has nothing to do with smoothing it. The tumbling is what smooth the glass.

I just love all your videos! They are so well done and a joy to watch. New subscriber. I have one question about cutting glass bottles. How do you do bottles? Do you break the top of off a wine bottle by smashing it at the top with a hammer or is then an another way. I really would love to make these different types of Christmas trees. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a Happy New Year.
@crazyglasslady3 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! You can buy a bottle cutter to get the top off I have one but never use it I usually just try to smash the top off. I use more vases then bottles, So If you are going to try to make something for the first time try something simple so you do not get discouraged Im sure I have some easy Christmas tree videos. Beautiful! Question….do you pour resin over the jewelry stem and star topper, or place it on after you have completed the pour?
@crazyglasslady2 ай бұрын
For this project, I set them in the resin. I did not pour any resin over them. The reason I did that is because this topper was very clear and I felt like it it would disappear more if I poured resin over it and the jewelry tree trunk. I also set in the resin because as far as jewelry goes a lot of times if they’re faceted jewelry, it will lose the faceted quality when you pour resin over it it’ll look rounded, and you won’t see the cuts in the gem so in this case, I did not pour resin over either of them, but sometimes I do if I feel like the resin will enhance the look

I would recommend using MOD PODGE instead! But if you insist on using resin.I recommend ( For everyone) that you use a resin with NO VOC's and do it in a well ventilated area and wear a respirator at all times. Have you seen any of my MOD PODGE VIDEOS?
@milersyjimenez57882 ай бұрын
@@crazyglasslady I have watched all your videos in the past 2 weeks🥰 Is it any difference in the finish at all?
@crazyglasslady2 ай бұрын
@@milersyjimenez5788 well resin is definitely shinier but mod podge certainly holds it on. I think if you look at a Christmas tree mod podge that I did on glass, it might make the glass a tiny bit foggy, but I used glitter on the glass then but on canvas, it really looks pretty and almost as good as resin, but if you have respiratory issues, that’s probably not your best interest to use resin
