I followed your tutorial for the Microwaveable bowl cozies and I have had them for a couple of years now. I handwash them with dawn dish soap and hot water almost daily, again, for a couple of years, and they still look as new as the day I made them. Can’t wait to make this pincushion. I have a couple of large bags of crushed walnut shells and this is perfect. Thankyou for your great tutorials. PS: I have had the Prairie Pointer for several years and NEVER used it. Jen, what a darling pattern! I usually don’t like making stuff like this because they are so “fussy” but I would love to have one of these pincushions. Guess I will have to get over messing with the fussiness and do it. I think I would love the pink fabric that you made in the video to go with other “essentials” in my sewing room. Thanks for the give away and sharing this great project! And I do think I would prefer the scented walnut shells. Too bad they don’t come in a rose scent! LOL. Thanks for sharing!

I fell in love with the Plum Perfect potholders/trivets, and looked forward to making the pin cushion, too. Fair warning, that while they are gorgeous - keep in mind the way you use your cushion. Outside of the center fabric, you could be popping your pins through up to 10 layers of fabric, which isn't always handy for quick usage with every type of pin. Still love the look, though!! Thanks for the tutorial, Jen. :)
@Carylanne9273 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same, as especially the clover pins Jen is using are very long but thin, that's the reason I love them, but if I hit the wrong spot they will just bend.

Another notion you might want to use in the step where you are closing the last of the seam after you stuffed your pincushion is the 1/4 in wonder tape to hold it while you stitch it closed. It really works a treat. Also another thing you can stuff it with instead of walnut shells if you are making it for someone with nut allergies is aquarium gravel. It is clean if you use new stuff, which I would highly recommend. Just give it a quick rinse, spread it on a parchment lined cookie sheet and place it in a preheated oven, say 200 F until dry. I’m not sure how long it would take to dry. Remove and let cool before you stuff your pin cushion.

Oh, good idea. I used poly pellets in the bottom third of the dress shaped pincushion I made and it works well, but I bet the gravel would have given even more weight.
