Join Jen as she walks you through making this adorable pincushion, designed by Sharon Burgess for Lilabelle Lane Creations using the Resplendent collection. This pincushion is the perfect addition to any sewing station! It's large enough to hold so many pins, and once filled with ground walnuts or a filling of your choice, it's heavy enough to stay in place!

Awesome teaching for anyone who is not experienced, but very well-done for those who are. Thanks for these fun videos! Would love to add a fabric bowl in the middle to hold clips =) Also, a dot of clear nail polish on a knot keeps it secure!

A few little tips for anyone struggling a bit with that circle-and-band. The pinning goes a lot easier for the attaching to the first circle if you run a gathering stitch, by hand (in a similar way that you do for yo-yoes, covering buttons and so on) around the other side of the band (that you're not pinning). That will help to pull in the fullness of band more evenly for pinning and get it "flatter" for sewing. Hand-basting them together before sewing means you can ignore pins at the machine and concentrate on smooth sewing around the circle (and using a shorter stitch length makes that easier too). Before doing an of that though I'd machine sew all around the circle just inside the seam-line and clip all around it to within a couple of threads of that line, but not through it. It will make sewing the band on a lot easier and still keep the main joining seam really strong.

I saw a video of a lady that Hand sew an entire hand bag that was EPP’d. it was absolutely gorgeous and it was very interesting to see it all come together. It was absolutely amazing just how beautiful it turned out. Not one piece was machine sewn. It was way beyond my skill set.

This is a beautiful project.. When I have made them before, I use a small piece (Just for the closure)of fusible fleece and tuck it in ( after filling the pincushion) I then use a small piece of the fusible tape , along with pins. Carefully iron that spot, then sew it shut. It's a great reinforcement.

Thank you for respecting the copyright and the fact that it is the intellectual property of someone else! As someone who used to work in a print shop, you have no idea how many disregard this. If someone else makes money or a living off of selling something, you can't turn around and copy it a bazillion times!

Love the idea of this. One thing that I think would make it easier to place the template would be to put it on the fabric and lay the piece you have already cut on top of the template. Line it up and then cut. Just sayin'...

I am so disappointed in the quilting community and people that make specialized tools make for different things I don't understand why every single pattern or project needs a specific template or rulers not everyone has 20 to 60 dollars for a template that may not be used 2 or 3 times. I'm truly disappointed everyone everyone has certain specialized templates. A suggestion May be a paper template so we can cut it out of a hard piece of plastic
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael- We've had these templates in our shop for some time and sought special permission from the designer to create this tutorial to aid those who have purchased these templates in creating this project. Since we enjoy the Resplendent collection from Jason Yenter, we also decided to create a kit designed for this template/pattern as an option if customers are interested in making one like Jen. We did not design these templates so we are unable to offer a pdf replica like you are suggesting. You may be able to offer your suggestion to the template designer as a potential alternative. Thanks for watching! -Michelle

It's the fussy-cutting that makes it seem like a more complex design than it really is. Imagine it all in solids and you'll soon see how simple it really is. It is really nothing more than a Grandmother's Flower Garden arrangement of hexies with a plain hexie in the middle, petals that are half-hexagons with pointy tops and "fancy fillers" that slip in between the outer ring of hexies.
