While showing us how to make a French Arrow, Steve takes us back to his childhood, the days when he used to make French arrows with his shoe laces. We were shocked to see how far the arrow goes.

Me and my mate just stopped the video halfway through to make one ourself a while we are high didn’t go as far as yours but still awesome

Takes me back to the late 60`s early 70`s, we used the 2ft green (split cane) garden canes and playing cards for flights. Screwing the business end of a normal dartboard dart to the cane really improved the range but it could land you in hot water these days ;) I`d recommend building a small trebuchet to chuck golfballs a few hundred feet

I used to strap a 6 inch nail to the front! They flew forever.

As kids, we armed ourselves with Dutch arrows, slug guns, pults & sheaf knifes then we set off for the fields hunting, returning when it got dark, dressed in worn out ripped up handy-downs, we must have looked like mini SAS/tramps, now the kids are all playing on their phones or shopping with mammy,

Lol that's the exact way we made them 50 years ago but we sharpened the ends lol

We use two playing cards for the flights, and then we used garden string, or fishing line, to tie the end back together, if I pinched my dad's electricians tape, he would have killed me, although we regularly pinched the bamboo canes from the allotments. We use the 3inch nail for the point.
