Hi Everyone, For this scrap wood challenge I decided to make a wooden Garden Toolbox. Like every woodworker there are always cut off‘s from projects too nice to throw away but often difficult to use in a big shop project. This wood Tool Box was a great way to put some of that material to use and make something practical that my wife really needs… A garden toolbox. What I really like about this project is years from now I know my daughter will also use it, whether working in the garden or maybe a decoration in her Home that will remind her of the old man : ) . I hope you enjoy this video and if you make this Tool box please share it on Instagram and tag me I’d love to see it. Thanks for watching and be good Jon

One of the reasons I like to watch Jon's video's is his design choices. We know he's an artist so he speaks with just a little (a lot of) experience. Cool entry for the scrap wood challenge.

Great project - a couple of laths across the bottom would just keep it up off the ground and could be replaced as they become damaged. Especially useful if it got left out

Nice job Jon. I've made these as planters and put drainage holes in the bottom, but for tools I would've opted out of drilling the holes. I would lose small parts constantly that way. Thanks for sharing

This is a great project. I also really like the way you use the trim router to clean up the plugs. Great idea.

Hi, I made years ago similar project. But, honestly spoken. I misuse it. It's perfect for transport of beer bottles to the BBQ. Cheers, Thomas

Cool build as always Bud. Reminds me a bit of the tool carries you made for the ATV a while back. But, I want you to know this does NOT count as one of the 11 furniture projects you promised me this year!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!

Beautiful job John! One of these has been on my to-do for a long while now, along with the flush trimming baseplate for my trim router. Speaking of trim routers, since you got the milwaukee M18 router, which do you prefer between it and the ridgid?

As always, great job, Jon! Question: using the router to remove the excess handle material seemed reasonable, but do felt that it saved you any time or effort using it for the dowel plugs? I know typically people will use Japanese pull saws to remove the excess followed by a quick sanding. Of course, there's always more than one way you can approach a task, but I'm curious whether you found any benefits to your approach that would be food for thought. Thank you.

My GUESS is only because it was already set up for the handle, if not I don't think he would attach the base and set it up just for the plugs.

Hey Guys, For me trimming plugs with a router is much faster then with a saw and I’m less likely to scratch the project. I’ll probably keep this base plate on this router. The old corded router stopped working.

Jon Peters - thanks Jon. I’ve never been able to trim a plug close to the case without scratching the work, and I have several flush trim saws and pull saws. The router trick works great.

I still get "Access Denied" (powered by imperva) both on my laptop with home wifi and my phone with mobile internet. I wanted to visit the site from Australia, probably this is the difference why Imperva blocks the access from here and doesn't block it for you. Maybe it gets fixed once. :)
