How to Make a Lens Through Silicone Molding

You should use a reinforced concrete mould sprayed with laquer and then apply vaseline. Then, use this large mould leveled properly and pour clear casting resin onto the vaseline thin layer dome hemisphere. So you get a large lens that can cost thousands of dollars. The concrete cast can be hemisphered perfectly using a curved edge half circle made from MDF. When spinning around this half circle into the thick concrete you will get a perfect dome hole. Leave to dry 2 hours and come with sand paper rubber disc. Get it almost glossy. Then apply liquid adhesive to make it glossy with a roller. Add furniture laquer. And job done. Keep it clean and use a brush with some clear vaseline or vegetable oil when casting a new lens. Let the casting resin to dry till next day, then use a large wool to turn the heavy block upside down slowly. In this way you get the perfect lens. Do not forget to use a tiny pin and gas torch to boil the few air bubbles when pouring resin. Follow my advice and you have your own most expensive lenses.

Grinding and polishing is not that difficult and it produces clear optically near perfect results, all this ‘lens’ moulding is simply a waste of effort.

For mass production of lenses grinding and polishing is not preferred therefore moulded lenses fast and economical
