How to make a micromouse maze 2023

Building a flexible micromouse contest maze is a bit of a challenge. We needed a design that could be easily stored and transported and that could be assembled quickly and easily. Using tiles, 540mm square, achieves these goals and lets individuals have a few tiles for practice. They can assemble these in a variety of configurations to suit their needs and the available space.

Hi, I've one question. The walls are merely fitted between the posts, or are they glued to the floor of the maze?

The walls have tabs on them that slide into slots in the posts. The posts have 6mm (in the UK) pegs that are inserted into a grid of holes to make up the maze floor. The maze can very easily be rearranged.

Is a micromouse event always conducted in an indoor closed environment with no natural light coming in ?

that is often the case but sometimes there can be nearby windows and the possibility of a lot of sunlight. We try to avoid that but it can happen.

@@micromouseonline thank you. Window is fine . But if the arena itself is not confined by walls and has sunlight all over the place, then it's not suitable for a micromouse contest right ? Also in that case how we protect our IR?

@@suricool99 It can make things very difficult. Direct sunlight on the maze or nearby walls may make it impossible to run.
