At first I was put off with the CNC but the design was awesome, much nicer than the many similar designs getting around, thanks for sharing 👍

@whitewolf87589 жыл бұрын
Looks good! Would it have been easier to cut out the baltic birch on the bandsaw rather than tje cnc?
@dpmakestuff9 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Nothing is easier than the CNC. I needed to cut the hole for the phone anyways and I wanted the cavity to be perfectly symmetrical. While its possible on the band saw, its not easier.
@TyMoser9 жыл бұрын
I like the sandwiched plywood but I agree with whitewolf8758. I'm thinking you were looking for an excuse to use your CNC. :)
@dpmakestuff9 жыл бұрын
I'm always looking for an excuse to use it, that's no secret. It produces such nice cuts that minimal sanding is needed and I knew the through hole would line up perfectly. Looks like I'll be needing to CNC a jointers mallet too ;)
@TyMoser9 жыл бұрын
Dustin Penner I'd like to see that! You could probably get all sorts of fancy.

Your videos are amazing dude keep up the good work! for your next project you should buy something like a speaker and take it apart then build a much higher quality casing for it out of wood.
@dpmakestuff8 жыл бұрын
+martinshoosterman I have some PC speakers that I wanted to upgrade, but I'm afraid of ruining the sound. I'm not a sound engineer so it would be a complete shot in the dark as far as improving the sound goes. Thanks for watching!
@martinshoosterman8 жыл бұрын
Dustin Penner I don't mean to improve the sound. What I meant was simply to replace the ugly plastic casing with a handmade wooden casing.
@Realism918 жыл бұрын
+Dustin Penner Try making a 4th orders band-pass subwoofer design, they're kickass, Corsair SP2500 speakers have that design and they shake my whole house without distorting the bass. The design reduces bass distortion.

Hi. I'm a new woodworker with a question. I see 8 clamps were used around 0:58. Is that necessary for two small pieces of wood? Or are you just using extra clamps to be safe... and because you have them. I ask because I only have four clamps (two 6" and two 12") and I'm wondering if I'm taking a risk by only using four for the same type of glue up.
@Ideador8 жыл бұрын
Very good work, congratulations, thanks for sharing, by the way, the blue ribbon is for the glue dripping, i guess?

I notice that when editing. My fingers are usually in a good place, it just looks bad. The speed also doesn't help. Sometimes it's sped up to 20x.

Very nice look. Was the clamp removal an ode to Frank Howarth? I was think of making some the like this for a gift. Do you think cheaper woods would work the same?
@dpmakestuff9 жыл бұрын
I did the stop motion and i didn't like it. I quickly watched one if franks videos and realized he ads sound effects. That makes all the difference. I don't think wood quality would effect audio quality. Thanks!

+Dan aka Basuraman i dont think it would make much of a difference, but hard vs soft wood does reflect sound differently(personal experience).
