I'm glad you like the video! Yes, making your own wigs gives you so much more selection too!

You made it look so easy, this encourages me to try doing it myself. 🤓There is a hair color I'm wanting but it seems that color isn't readily available any longer as a finished wig in the size I need for my doll, so I want to try making my own. Thank you for this great tutorial! Can't wait to try making one myself! I especially love the top center "hole" insertion technique! I haven't seen anyone else do it that way, and I actually really like it much better than the long front-to-back straight part that I see many creators using. Brilliant!

Is it possible to use regular glue instead of modge podge?
@AmandaParkinsonArt6 ай бұрын
You could use PVA glue but it may take longer to dry between layers

I love this! Can you please advise me on how to make a wig with whispy hair - like toddler or newborn might have? Thank you!!
@AmandaParkinsonArt11 ай бұрын
Usually newborn hair is attached directly to the doll. Otherwise the wig cap may be visible through the whispy hair. 💚

Can I use merino wool like they use for felting? Can't find mohair strings in my country...
@AmandaParkinsonArt4 ай бұрын
Felting wool can be used, but it will be thicker and a little more stiff than mohair.

Hi Amanda! May I ask how much mohair you need to make your doll wig? I've got a doll that is about 13 cm round the head. Also it looked like you got mohair still attached to the skin.. did this make it easy to dye? How large a piece did you get and did you get it at a particular site? I'm a bit new to this and appreciate any help you can give. I can't afford $250 for a wig someone else has made!!

How many coats of mod podge?
@AmandaParkinsonArt9 ай бұрын
I did 5 coats but you can make it thicker if you want.

What if there is no hole in the doll's head? Is there a different way to achieve the centre?
@AmandaParkinsonArt3 ай бұрын
I would create in in a similar way, perhaps just take the wig cap off the head before poking the centre hole. Also, ensure that the hair is glued flat under the wig caps so it sits flat against the head.

What is modge podge?
@AmandaParkinsonArt Жыл бұрын
Mod Podge is a glue, sealer and finisher that you can buy in most craft supplies stores or online. The Hard Coat Mod Podge I use in this video is one of the quicker drying variations they have available.

Watching this to see if I can save money buying mohair instead of human hair to make wigs for myself.
