I was watching this to see about the uses for mullein as our yard is full of it, but your line about allowing yourself to just be a human, to be imperfect, was what I needed to hear today. Thank you.

I'm a firm believer that plants show up when we need them. A lot of people mock that belief, can't tell you how many times I've been told plants show up when growing conditions are right. But amazing to me that the growing conditions are right, right when we need them. I had never heard of ghost pipe, but at a time of great physical and emotional pain a stand popped up in my backyard. After researching it I made a tincture with 80 proof vodka and it works amazing. I read in several places that it only needed to sit 2 weeks, but I left it longer before straining.

I'm unwell today and can't sleep. Horrible headache. I made some mullein tincture with about 70:20 fresh leaves and flowers in February this year. It came out a gorgeous deep burgundy colour. If the paracetamol doesn't work I'll be taking 3 or 4 drops of the tincture. Hard to find 100 proof vodka in Australia so I make tinctures with 80 proof. I found some baby mulleins in the wild, dug up a couple and bought them home and they're flourishing. Unfortunately the local councils spray them with weed killer sometimes so I saved a couple. Same with St John's Wort. It's classed as a controlled/invasive weed here in Victoria. I found a colony of them in the wild and bought some home and planted them in pots and they've grown lush and flower prolifically in the warmer months. Love making my own medicines.

Very good video. Thanks! BTW you are the second person I've heard talk about plants changing according to what we need. In a DVD series called "free food and medicine" the presenter said where you live will change. What you need will start growing around you. This kind of knowledge puts me on a much deeper level of connection with the earth.

Really important to mention that mullein has tiny fibrous hairs that can really really irritate. Make sure to strain plant matter out super super well!

Hello, I sure like your balanced soul and the way you care about all the folks that you are helping. I rescued five Mullen plants from a construction site last year, brought them to my raised bed organic worm heaven... This year I am seeing their bliss. I will harvest a few leaves for lung care, but I have told them that I want to help them prosper and I will harvest the seeds and cultivate them. I know this may sound like hoo_ haaa to some folks, and thats ok, I keep my promises to all living things. Those I eat, know I mean it...thankful and humble, those I cultivate, may feel the love and safety of my garden. You are such a treat to share with my quirky whole earth friends, I love your channel and I have shared you often. Thank you and I hope I one day can return the benevolence. Smiling, George.

Good evening April. A matter of interest & two questions, as follows: A) You said in one of your clips that 80 proof takes a little longer. 8-10 weeks as opposed to 6-8 weeks with 100 proof? B) There is a lot of thistle on my property. It is flowering & seeding now. It has light purple flowers, as swamp thistle does. I make a plant tonic from it. Is there anything else you can make with it? Tinctures? Please advise whenever you can. C) You only use clear alcohol; vodka, as I do. As a matter of interest (not to start an argument), my old Teacher, who was a Shaolin Monk (truely, no b.s., I can give you his name if you want) used to have a closet with lots of 2 gallon jars full of different Chinese medicines. He loved to use Johnny Walker Red or Black. That's what you brought him to get in his good graces. I thought this might be of interest to you. I enjoy your presentations, & they have spurred me to make medicines. I just did my first batch of yarrow tincture. Catnip is up next. This will be followed by mullein. I am on the look out for turkey tails. Incidentally, there is a very good identification guy out here in the East. The series is called Learn Your Land. Her goes heavy into mushrooms. Thank you for the great information you disperse. It is invaluable in these times. JDAG

I think that Shaolin Monk likes to drink John Walker. Nothing wrong with that even if you are a "Monk"

I watched a video with a man cutting the stalk of the thistle plant, purple top... he cut the stalk in pieces and ate it as salad!

Master Chai Meng Woo really did use the Johnny Walker for medicine. He wasn't the "casual drink type". You can trust that 100%. This man was the type of person you meet every once & a while that marks mileposts in life.

Hi. ! I enjoy your videos ! I love Mullen, and have been growing it for years before I realized it was medical. My question is once your tincture is ready how much do you take if needed ? Like a tablespoon ? Thanks so much !

Could you show what you do once the 6-8 weeks is up ? What cloths and methods you use to finish up the process ?

Haha for sure not like glass to your intestines and they actually aren't microscopic (that means you can't see them with your bare eyes) so any tightly woven cloth will do.

Hi girl. I would like to thank you for all your videos, I use them a lot, just so you know, but I have one question about the vodka. I am a litlebit confused about if you are blending it with water before you put it in to the jar or,,,? You talk about 80% and 100%,,,,,,, I am an Icelander and I dont quite understand what you are talking about. I have only access to 40% vodka, can you give me a hint please. I want to do it just like you ❤

I have Matthew Wood's Herbal Wisdom book, and he states it's good for pain, especially nerve pain. Mullein leaves even help set bones! I know that's unbelievable to some people, but if I were in need of that care, I'd probably try it. Can't give you guarantees about its effectiveness since I'm not an herbalist and everyone is different.

I have soooo much mullein growing on our land, I’d like to tincture some for this winter! We’re always taking infusions of it, but I think having the tincture around will be nice too. Questions: obviously it’s late summer now, is it too late to gather decent mullein? Will you post decanting videos? What’s your recommended dosage?

While I encourage you to get curious and look up average doses per plant you make a tincture with you can make a tincture this time of year for sure! Just be sure to use the greenest healthiest looking leaves, usually these will be towards the top of the plant😊
