Great video thank you, this is such an easy way of doing a collar. I used to have a jacket pattern and the facing also had a back neck facing attached, you just stitched the whole thing over the collar it was so easy!!! I wish I still had that pattern.

Very clear, concise demonstration. This is also called a camp collar used on men's shirts. Many commercial pattern instructions have terrible instructions and illustrations show this method. You've made it all very clear!

This saved my life with McCalls Mens Shirt M6972. The collar was really throwing me. I am curious about the unfinished edges between the collar, but under the facing. They are clipped, so you can't really serge them.... Does the facing protect them from fraying? I hope it's not a dumb question; I usually sew with knits, but am making this for a Father's Day present. I'm glad I made a muslin! Again, thank you. :)

Hi Wendy, I am curious as I am having trouble with a Kwik Sew pattern K3484, bowling shirt. Was the collar on the McCalls pattern contoured on the neckline and sandwiched, all at once, between the shirt facing and the placket? Mine is a real 3D puzzle and I am struggling with it.
