About Sew Sew Live
Hi I'm Saremy!
My sewing style is a combination of garment industry factory floor speediness combined with some of the nice details of home sewing. It's not about being fast but about being efficient and confident. There's more than one way to get there!
Check out my Welcome video pinned to my landing page to see a glimpse of my background and experience. Currently I like sewing live with you, helping with your projects, talking construction, fit, pattern drafting and all things in between. Everyone is welcome here! No matter your ability, size, race, religion, orientation, or gender. All curious humans are welcome here! Why do I do this? I just want to share the skills I've learned over the years while I continue to learn even more!
Sponsors
Are you a fabric store or pattern company and you'd like to promote a pattern and/or fabric? I can sew your project live and you'll have How-To videos for your customers. We really appreciate patterns that include as many sizes as possible! Currently there is no cost except sending the project following my guidelines. Once I cut and sew it live on camera you get the project back in the size you requested. If you want to make a donation that would be much appreciated since ad revenue on KZbin is pretty tiny. I agree!! I've been sewing for 40 years but collars and sleeves still make me cringe. This video was SOOOO much more helpful than Butterick's brief and non-helpful instructions! Thank you so much! :) Now for those stupid sleeves and not getting tucks when sewing them in!?! And, when I go by my measurements on the pattern, the garment is waaaay too big...like, falling off my shoulders. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to determine pattern size correctly. And I'm hourglass shaped so they should work pretty well for me, right? Any tips on that? I will search this channel... ;)

SUPERB !!! I was stumped by my pattern's printed instructions for an almost identical shirt collar, but your tutorial in video form demystified it completely, and I really like your method of sewing up the whole collar first before attaching to the short body, as the pattern's approach of doing it piece by piece attached to the shirt first meant that any mistakes on the shirt body could effectively trash the whole front and/or back pieces....Yikes !!! With your method, if I make a mistake on any of the collar pieces, I have much less to lose and more likely to have enough material to redo the collar pieces 😃 Thank you sooo (sew ??) much !!! have a great day.

So happy I found this channel. I've been stuck with a blouse I couldn't finish and now I think I may actually get it done (after I watch the video a second time of course)

Thanks for this tutorial! Going to try this tonight -- worked from the outside in on my first Archer and had a terrible time trying to catch the inside of the collar stand when I was finishing. I'm sure this will go much more smoothly!

Wow, this is a fantastic tutorial! I'm making McCalls 6696 and it has a lot of slip stitching; I wish I'd seen your video beforehand. I especially love the very sage advice about just getting things done and considering it good practice rather than giving up because something isn't perfect. I am excited to watch your other videos - thank you so much.

And oh my gosh, you matched the print between the stand and the collar. I like this way of going from inside to out. I’ll certainly try it when I get off my backside and actually make this shirt. 🙄

I love these mini vids. They are a nice quick reference. Side note: I have made several button up shirts so I decided to wing it like I see you do. Mistake. Got excited about using bias on the hem so sewed up the sides so I could do that. Realized that meant setting in the sleeve in the round with french seams. I was intimidated but did it fine. It took me forever and I know for a fact I will not sew up my sides to see how pretty the bias is gonna look on the hem again.

Are you blaming me for being excited to see a bias finished hem?? 😂 eh... I would have done the same thing! Maybe you influenced me hmmm? 😏
