Honestly I found it amazing how you could explain all the steps and still do a really good job. I know how hard it is to explain all the steps you do and concentrate on the work at the same time. Not an artisan but an Engineer in the optical industry who had to train many new colleagues over the years

What I find in this vid is no educational narration here Chris. The vid is well done but leaves so many questions out there for "new to the art" subbers! To hell with the NAYSAYERS! I'm gonna post this to our great group, Inspiring Metalsmiths Jewelry, where, I think you will find a lot of support for speech for explaining the process as you go!

I hope this was a tongue in cheek poke back at the critics. Chris you are high up in the list of best jewellery instructors on you tube. Every video of yours that I watch delivers a wealth of information on several levels. Watching your hands, the position and the grip helps me to mimic and improve. Your description of the task and the difficulties are invaluable. Lastly every anecdote or aside is worth inclusion as instructional value or comic effect. I say well done and thanks. Please ignore the criticism of talking too much, those clowns either can switch off, or turn the volume down! Lastly an open question, do any of these critics actually have any on line output that allows them to demonstrate any video teaching technique at all, let alone a better technique. Keep up the good work man. I like your work.

Good for you mate. How about people appreciate what you are offering rather than complain about something. 'Too much talk'. What a direct comment. Speaks volumes of the person. Perhaps all your videos should be only accessible by payment. This sense of entitlement people have and the complete confidence is criticising from behind a screen is woeful. Those details you provide, and reasons for doing something a particular way are valuable, and the stories show you are human. How bout you blacklist anyone who makes simple direct and judgemental comments and let them find someone who offers the same level of detail you do. I'm a teacher, and also have been criticised for too much talk. Limit it and then others complain. I think your vid proved it's point. For those criticising, don't ask questions now (e.g. material thickness, how stone should sit on collet before blocking etc). Do a demo on setting fancy shapes (specifically with points e.g.. princess cut, baguettes, heart, pear, marquee etc) and be sure to turn the camera away during vital prep prior to setting (you know what I'm referring to), then watch the complaints roll on over broken stones during setting. It saddens me how a whole generation complain about something they are getting for free, a sense of entitlement, and that their voice is louder than everyone's. I applaud you for your videos, and for this latest one inparticular. Sometimes saying nothing in response to those complainers is stronger than saying a lot.

Hey Diamond Mounter, I'm new to jewelry design and have been following you for a little while now. I think you're absolutely brilliant and funny as hell. I have learned a lot from you and I love the fact that you continually talk unfiltered as you work. It allows us entrance into your mind and trains us to think as a real jeweler should, continuously and constantly. There will always be haters out there, no matter the individual or subject matter discussed so please don't take it personally. I think the video is great with the talking and explanation. It helps to make it understandable I only imagine it's not cool for someone who doesn't speak English as you could imagine. But I wouldn't stop talking because people say. so people complaining if you don't like the speaking then turn down you volume and don't spoil the videos for people like myself who appreciate the spoken explanation. Thank you.

Bro don’t let anyone influence what you do by something they say. Your videos are amazing and I learn so much from you, you’re a huge inspiration. Please make audio for this video because whatever troll said something to cause you to make this video silent, they don’t matter my man…. It’s all about spreading the knowledge and doing what you came here to do. Don’t let anyone throw you off course. It’s just a voice in the wind man, no one of real substance even looks at those comments because we’re too busy learning what you have to teach us 🫶

The whole premise of your channel is to teach, you even say that in your intro, that these are "instructional videos". These people complaining about you talking too much, will never learn anything in life, because if they can't sit through 15min of instruction, with tips and tricks from real experience, then they obviously are not even open to learn. Channels like yours are few and far between. There are many other channels that just show the process, with no explanation, and those channels have their value. But finding channels where someone is willing to talk through the thought process, share tips and tricks that are only learned through hands on experience, address questions, etc, that's rare. You can't please everyone. The complainers can grow up and use the mute button, or find another channel. No one is forcing their hand. Keep up the great content and the great instruction, and passing on of the craft! You're appreciated!!!

Your talking points are always informative and casual. I enjoy letting the videos run while I’m at the bench. Today, however, I stopped and actually watched because there was no narrative telling me what you were doing, only the visual to follow. It was like sitting at my own bench, doing each step carefully and completely, checking for fit and accuracy at every point. It was valuable to have to watch closely, actually paying attention, so I could catch each detail. Valuable lesson, but I do like hearing you. 🙂

I am always perplexed by people who take the time to complain about a video not meeting their expectations. Surely if you don’t like it you just move on to something you do like. It’s not as though it is compulsory to watch to the end or that they have made any contribution that entitles them to feel aggrieved. In my experience it is those who have the least to offer society that always have the most to complain about.

O my goodness! I LOVE your accent, and your personality! There are some really strange people in the world who seem to exist only to make others miserable. Take complaints with a grain of salt. What percentage of your viewers is it? Likely less than 2%…and likely that’s on the one video they didn’t like. I’d invite them to watch a different channel if they find your personality to odious. There’s a few channels that show jewelry making without any talking, but there are things that you teach with your talk that they are not teaching. Keep being you! 🌸

People can be real idiots. The knowledge in this particular video is very hard to come by. I know, having scoured the web a few years ago for it, and wound up paying $25 for a downloaded tutorial, the only lesson on this setting I could find. It helped, but everyone has their own ways, and I would have valued anything you had to **SAY** about it, you being only the 2nd source I've ever seen, and you also bring generous to share this knowledge freely! You do your own thing, there are enough of us out here that appreciate it. Let the others go elsewhere and miss out.
