This was a lovely presentation with the tools to hand Mr. Clothier. Your correct about how things are displayed in a sales environment...very important.... I don't think its going to be long now before you find yourself having to make new batches of pens for your shop...

Nice build John,think I'll build it first and then flock all the visible faces👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
Alan Mullock thanks. Flocking would be a better option. I looked into getting the kit but it was so much more expensive than the roll of sticky back felt I bought for £4. If I was making several of them I would definetly make and then flock for sure

Great job John. Cutting those grooves is no way as easy as you think. I did mine by hand router for my box and spent ages as I had to do 3 passes because I needed a flat part in the bottom. Well done!

I've been thinking about making a pen display stand for sometime. I like the way you've made yours. Unfortunately I don't have a router or a table saw. So a little more thinking time for me.
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
Miss Tee's Woodturning Thanks. You could do it with a hand saw and the router is just an easy way. You could just use small strips of wood rather than route it o7t

As I'm into retro I'm thinking of a stand in a style of the 50s or 60s. I'm not sure how yet but I'll come up with something.

Lovely display for the pens. Tags can be a problem. Might I suggest to hang the tags off the back? The string leading to the pens will be more streamlined. Just a thought as tags can be made with various length cords.
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
Rebecca Eddy thank you Rebecca and thanks for the advice. I totally agree. I have since removed the tags completely and put a small price list on the side.
@untbunny6 жыл бұрын
John Clothier Thank you for reading my comment. You have such a great eye for detail that I hesitated to suggest. Hope the pen sales skyrocket with the new display.

Love it! I need something that I can take with me that not only displays the items but also protect them in the car and so. Something you would come up with you think?
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have a zip folder that holds around 40 pens. I use that for transporting pens.
@turningioma75416 жыл бұрын
@@JohnClothier ok. I need to come with something that is both display AND safe
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
You could put a strap across the display stand. That would hold the pens on the stand and could be removed later
@WilliamHuntLatheCraft6 жыл бұрын
Great project. But how do you hang on to your pens? Family, friends "borrow'" all of mine.
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
William Hunt Thanks William. Oh I solved that by overloading them with freebies when I first started making pens lol
@StudioJLT6 жыл бұрын
Flocking might have been a little easier, but you can’t argue with those results. Also, taking smaller bites with the router would help with the problems you had with it.
@JohnClothier6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Buddy. I totally agree flocking would be better. I looked into getting the kit for flocking but compared to the £4 the sticky felt cost it just wasn't worth it. If I was making several I would definetly flock them. The ks for the tip on the router. Not a tool I am very experienced!
