Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I have heard and seen the Buff sticks but how to make them was really helpful. I made a couple only a couple weeks back and I was not happy with my result. Watching your instruction video helped me understand the faults of mine.

Haha, this vid represents my work at my bench! 😅 20 minutes of related, non essential fiddling and 2 minutes of me doing what I'm supposed to! Explains why my supply never catch up. 😅

I actually used paint stir sticks found at our local diy shop wrapped them in the wet/dry and love it. I only use 600 grit I will be purchasing additional grits after watching this😁 thanks for another GREAT vid Chris!!! 👏👏👏 P.S YES PLEASE make selling on Etsy video. I want to start my own Etsy to at least make enough to buy more material and/or tools needed to carry on in this amazing trade. Thank you so much for all the amazing information and inspiration you continue to so generously share!!! 🙏❤🙏

Same here with the paint sticks - I use the 5 gal stir stick and cut it down to a good length. I use 600, 1000, 2500, 4000 paper - then polish. I have lower grit and higher grit but rarely use them.

Emery, or corundite, is a dark granular rock used to make abrasive powder. It is a kind of rock, that used to be mined in Naxos island Greece, not a place just a rock

How to save gold from Emery paper
@flyingcheff3 жыл бұрын
Chris, almost no one talks about gold or platinum on KZbin videos - except to say "when you get there/when you are a real jeweler/ when you can afford to make "real jewelry". It's not stated but it certainly seems implied. There are lots of doing/ making videos, great to watch with music, but it all makes it seem so over everyone's head (no teaching, just bragging), a bit elitist. Almost every video teaching anything about jewelry uses copper or silver (because it's cheap to "real" jewelers). I'd like to learn about gold and platinum! Also, the "how /why" about polishing before soldering, the soldering (of sterling silver) brings up the fine silver and any polish is immediately lost - I don't ever maintain a polish when I have to do another solder operation. Why does that never get addressed - or rather can you address that? Thanks so so so so much!! BTW, Lucy Walker does a brilliant job of a buff stick tutorial. So, there are two jewelers that know their shit!

I got them in a shop in Osaka. You dont really need them to be honest. The 1200 grade paper is smooth enough

emery paper is no longer predominately made of corundum, its more likely to be made of silicon carbide or aluminium oxide as they are cheaper to produce. also your magical roll is cloth backed emery and is mainly used in wood turning
