It's truly insane that you have as few subs as you do. I've been watching about 3 or 4 other metalsmithing channels consistently for about 3 months and yours is by far the best and most informative.

Aaah Chris thank you SO much for this. I was chucking my split mandrel against the wall all week after watching a video on how to load the sandpaper on another channel that was just nonsense. Kept flying off. You’re the best!

When I ordered some from the jewlery supply company in the US they were listed as sanding drums or barrel sanding bits. 💖

Hi, I have now made a few of different grits and it is absolutely brilliant! So easy, soo cheap and extremely practical as opposed to regular “lose” wraps in a split mandrel! No more annoying flapping around! Thanks!

Great! Yes loose bits of emery paper flying off and hitting you in the face lol. Also you will breath in a lot less dust with these hard roll wizzers I should of mentioned that in the video

Hi, I haven’t seen this way of doing them before! Great idea and super simple to make, it seemed! I use split mandrel a lot and this will simplify my life considerably. Take an hour and make a handful of each appropriate grit! Thanks!

Hi, Chris Good video - I got split shafts of amazon 10 for not much money and used a hot glue Gun to finish the ends I did also put a bit at the end - You can get them at HS Walsh Not seen them on Cookson and you are right they tend have a funny name - I could only find in USA then did at Walsh but that was after I had made them they are "Mounted Emery Paper rolls" Hope that helps - Paul

Thanks for sharing , I would usually saw through old burs and insert the paper through the split , but the first one you did with glue looks a lot simpler to make. Cool miniature cars btw , you gonna make them in pendants?

A shop I used to work at called them flappys, so that’s what I know them as hahaha. I like wizzers a lot. They are technically called split mandrels, I think wizzer and flappy are much cooler.

Yes that’s a great idea and a great way to make use of used burs and broken drill bits. Super useful. Can you recommend a way of getting into the nooks I’ve made a key ring with wire on a silver back plate to spell someone’s name and I’m struggling to get into the tight spaces between the letters because the back plate is solid. Cheers in advance
@DiamondMounter3 жыл бұрын
Tricky! I wouldve polished the back plate first then added the bits on. It wouldve been easier to get it all polished. Although silver goes matte after soldering so its difficult either way
@garybryan13793 жыл бұрын
@@DiamondMounter cheers for a that. Sounds strange but I’m glad it’s not a simple solution because I thought I was missing something. Decided to go with a more rustic look with this piece and it turned out ok, but will try what you suggested on future pieces that are similar. Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it. Keep up the great work👍🏻

Why not use a separating disc to cut the slit? Faster and straighter!
@pennyalbertella89783 жыл бұрын
This was great - thanks so much! Is it possible to finish a piece (file & polish) from beginning to end with a pendant motor? I’d love to see the process you favour!

Thank you for the video, for your hair try 3 drops of lemon essential oil and 5 drops of chamomile essential oil i 1.5 pint of water and rinse your hair after shampooing and conditioner, and leave in, as a natural blonde it will brighten your hair, the least you would achieve is natural highlights.
