I'm from Brazil and here this type of sushi is extremely popular, you'll find it in any Japanese restaurant, we just don't eat it with avocado. We also coat it with panko bread crumbs and fry it, which is great, try it sometime. We call it hot philadelphia or hot rolls.

Amazing 🤩 what is umagi made of please?also what is in the mayo? My 8 year old can eat sushi everyday 😅I’m learning but the sauce I find tricky
@TheSushiMan14 күн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! Unagi itself is freshwater eel, but you're probably talking about unagi sauce, which is very similar to a teriyaki sauce. I have videos on both the unagi sauce (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqnKnYyopJpjbaM) and spicy mayo (kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGrNZ5Ksgdlrhrs) that you'll probably find helpful.

The only issue is getting the rice correct. Also slightly cooked asparagus is a great addition or sub for avo . Imho 💪🏼

What’s the trick to keep all the cucumbers from piling up and sticking to the side of the knife as you are chopping? There must be something. Thanks for the video!
@TheSushiMan3 ай бұрын
Mine piles up too, I just knock it over when it gets high. I think it all depends on how you cut it, some chefs will use the tip of the knife and slice through each piece which prevents sticking, but I think it takes longer.
@manubisbee12 ай бұрын
@@TheSushiMan thanks. Yeah takes way longer. Surprised after so many years of using knifes and slicing things that we havnt perfected this.

An avocado can be easily taken out of its skin in chunks (pit removed) using a similarly curved butter knife, no need for peeling and slicing. 🙃

What sauce could be good with these roll?

Spicy mayo and unagi sauce both are really great with these rolls. Here are the videos for both: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGrNZ5Ksgdlrhrs and kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqnKnYyopJpjbaM. Hope that helps!

Sorry for the stupid question but is the salmon raw?
@TheSushiManАй бұрын
That's actually a very good question because smoked salmon can be cold smoked or hot smoked. Cold smoked keeps the salmon raw while hot smoked salmon is cooked. I like to use cold smoked salmon for Philadelphia rolls but you can use either one depending on your preference. Hope that helps!

Don’t you have to add lemon juice to the avocado to stop it going brown?
@TheSushiMan2 ай бұрын
You can, I know some chefs do. I personally don't though because it alters the flavor and as long as you're eating the sushi in a decent time, the avocado should be fine.
