Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I've always wanted to make a pincushion like this, but never knew how to stitch the button so it sank in and made that cute dimple. I really appreciate you sharing all the techniques you use to create a clean, professional looking project!

My pleasure! This is such a fun and simple pincushion, but it looks so great! And yes, those little tips, like how to pin the corners, make all the difference. ❤

My sister made me a pin cushion yrs. ago, she used kapok for the innards….I looked at K-Mart but did not find any. Cracked walnut shells are EXPENSIVE……buttons I have tons of.
@CarolinaMoore
@CarolinaMoore Жыл бұрын
Oh ... I'm not familiar with kapok... will have to look it up. Buying crushed walnut shells in bulk is cheapest. People use them in tumblers to polish metal, so they are fairly inexpensive that way. They are heavy, though, so shipping can be expensive.

Hey There! I’ve just spent the afternoon with you. ;) I ordered your Box Bag Template from Amazon, watched some videos, including this one, subscribed to your newsletter and got the free pattern. I’d like to make a bigger version of this pincushion, as I just love large, hefty ones! I’m a beginner though and I’m not sure how to go about a larger size and what size box bottom. I have some 9” squares of flannel precut… is that too large? Would I use a 1.5 “ box bottom if I am nearly doubling it? Would I want a bigger seam allowance for security? Can you advise? Thanks for the help.
@CarolinaMoore
@CarolinaMoore 2 ай бұрын
Great questions! I don't think you need bigger seam allowance. And you can do a bigger Boxed corner if you like. What I'd wonder about is how rounded it would get - bulging at the top and bottom. You might want to do 4 buttons (so it looks "tufted") rather than just 1. But you'll want to do them at the same time. Sew the buttons in, but don't tie tight. Then tie medium-right, and go around tightening them all little bit by little bit until they are all equally snug. That way they'll all be the same height. Once they're all tight, then tie them and bury the ends. Good luck! ❤️

Hi, I thought there ought to have another button at the other side... thanks for the tutorial.
@CarolinaMoore
@CarolinaMoore 3 жыл бұрын
You can make yours however you want it to look ... if you add a button to the bottom I'd add a flat button so the pincushion still sits nicely. The button on the bottom would help support the fabric on the bottom from the stress of the thread. The pincushions I have been using don't have any issues with wear and tear... but there is always that potential.
