Well, I tried this - I don't have a food processor and I didn't want to clog up my blender, so I ended up chopping up the dates and nuts and hand mixing everything together. It was super dry (I skipped the syrup since I thought it might be too sweet) and I added some almond milk. It turned out great! I love this so much - thanks for sharing!!

Thanks! To keep it no-bake, a gluten-free flour like almond flour might work! I haven't tried it though so I'm not sure what the right ratio would end up being, but it's worth a shot!

Hey there! Just a heads up, I ended up making these with almond flour instead of oats this week and they were just as good! So there's a great option for you 🙌

I've always done the fridge because it keeps them nice and soft for quick eating! They've never lasted more than a few days lol but I'm sure they'd be fine in the freezer. Hope you like them!

How many servings do you cut them in?
@theplantbasedteacher
@theplantbasedteacher Жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 8-12 depending on how full they make you! For me I usually do 8 which ends up at 15g protein and keeps me satisfied! The container I used for the video made 8 because it was smaller and thicker. But you can spread them out to make more!

Hi! I want to go plant based 100% of the time because I'm allergic to eggs and dairy products, but when I lift weights, I don't feel as strong when I'm 100% vegan. I am not trying to lose weight. I'm naturally very slender. I'm also allergic to almonds and peanuts. *** Any suggestions would be welcomed!!! Thanks in advance!!

Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! I put the same comment on your other one, but here it is again just in case you see this first! Your situation is definitely doable. I'm naturally very slender as well and have been an athlete for a long time. I put together a free ebook on how to build muscle on a plant-based diet. It goes through all the steps, the science, my strategies, and includes a sample meal plan. I think that can answer just about all of your questions! And if not I'd be happy to help out more to fill in the gaps ☺ If you're interested just head to buildmuscle.plantbasedteacher.com/ and it'll send a copy to your inbox (if you don't get it let me know and I'll send it over personally). Lmk what you think and if there's anything else I can do to help! That's what I'm here for 👍🏻

You might want to read books or watch vids from Dr John McDougall--he says our diet should be starch-based (it's super good, lots of recipes too))--best wishes to you!

I never use protein powder. Is it really necessary? I'm 52 and exercise for general health but not trying to build big muscles.
@theplantbasedteacher
@theplantbasedteacher 2 ай бұрын
It's not wholly necessary, however having more lean muscle mass is absolutely critical for preventing injuries and maintaining mobility/independence as we age! Hitting protein requirements is a great way to make sure we stay strong and fit as we enter our golden years. And if a good, clean protein powder can help get you there then I'd definitely recommend it. Even if you're not looking to get big muscles, it's super important to have lean muscle mass as we age. Here's a good overview of the benefits: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/07315724.2004.10719434

I just keep it simple. I smash 7 oz (200g) oats (blended into flour) with 13 oz (365g) dates. I add a bit of shredded coconut ground into flour and sometimes smash up 100% cocoa bar. You can use deglet to lower the price but medjool are softer and thus easier to work with. Being WFPB for years I cannot imagine needing to add sweetener to a bar made of dates (that was the point of adding bitter chocolate to balance it out) but people are really tolerant of sweetness in America since our diets are junk. Also people are obsessed with protein. If you eat Whole Foods it’s just not an issue unless your calories are too low and your trying to build muscle at the same time (impossible anyway). It might even be cancer promoting. But if people want to buy unnecessary protein powders that’s thier business
