Dear Adam, I need some answers If it won't take your time.. 1) I guess I haven't started making puppet yet because I'm a little discouraged. What would you suggest? I see you work very fast. Can it be a problem for newbie to be a perfectionist at the beginning? Do you mean I am a coward? :( 2) Why did you make the head and mouth part in two separate parts at this video? 3) What could be an alternative to tupper ware plate. Because I don't like the sound of the mouth opening and closing 4) I'm thinking of using 1/4 inch thickness EVA foam. Do I have to buy hot air gun? 5) if we are working on a human head, does it necessarily have to be covered with fleece? Maybe painting EVA foam can be the first step the solution? Also, for example, can this face to be characterized by sticking soft sponge pieces on EVA foam? Have you ever worked the kind of puppet I've ever mentioned? Questions like this constantly confuse me. I am sorry :(
@PuppetNerd
@PuppetNerd 5 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry I don’t understand most of your questions. In this video the jaw and top of head are separate parts because it allows for a more flexible mouth movement. Also since it is covered in fur it wouldn’t be as noticeable.

hi Adam! super happy to see more puppet building videos! the puppet i'm working on now actually is using this same fur from puppet pelts :D i was wondering whether there's any reason not to just attach the chest and lower body patterns for the fur pattern?
@PuppetNerd

You could attach them but it would not be a snug fit around the foam since those two pieces don’t line up evenly. Unless you changed to the foam pattern too...

I really need to build a new Steve D'Monster puppet, so I may actually take some initiative from this tutorial - at least maybe for the body, because the head is a different shape. Is Puppet Pelt reasonable on their Mongolian fur? Mongolian is always so hard to find; I had to use Luxury Shag as a substitute for the previous Steve puppet, but it's way too thick and heavyweight, making the puppet stiff and cumbersome.

@@PuppetNerd you said in other videos that the patterns are free and when I went on to your website it said $53. Please correct me if I am wrong. 👍

You are incorrect. I have MANY patterns on my website that are free. I never claimed that one was free. I only have like 4 or 5 patterns that I charge for. I have like 10 that are free.

Drawing with Jon Remember that Kermit has nothing inside his head except for your hand. You gotta make your own pattern to fit your hand.

SadLittleBikeRack thanks for the advice. Jim Henson's hand was gigantic so I think I'll use 1/2 inch foam.
