I have seen almost every demonstration on youtube and this is by far the best methodical approach. He shows not only what he is doing but also options where applicable. The sound, lighting, and subscripts is frosting on the cake. I know this must having been an ordeal, but I hope you do more of these. If you haven't already subscribed, do it now. Great for beginners and veterans. Thanks

I am just getting started, and have ordered the tools you show on your video and I have a couple of questions. 1) How do I order your Book 2, and 2) will a one ton arbor press punch a hole in a coin? Thank you - you have great videos.
@CoinRingsfromTheMint5 жыл бұрын
Right on I'm excited for you getting started! Unfortunately the book never happened. My co author got busy with a major move and we never got back to it. But you have all the information in the video to be successful. Some people cut holes with a 1 ton but it isn't easy. I'm sure it is bad for the press too.
@MDogg19603 жыл бұрын
Is there a reason you don't use a press to cut the hole in the coin?

question, where are you buying coins? "The Mint" Also I bought a ring from Coin Rings from the Mint, I love it. I have bought the presses and die sets and watched a ton of videos. Keep up the great work. Cant wait to get started. God bless you brother!
@CoinRingsfromTheMint6 жыл бұрын
I buy my clad coins by the roll uncirculated. There is a local coin shop that I get most of them from. If they don't have them I buy uncirculated rolls from Ebay. I'm glad to hear you are getting into coin ring making! It is a ton of fun. You can also buy them individually but it can be a bit more expensive.

Guess I need to get over punching a hole thru a dated coin. I better practice before I try an older coin. Thanks again!!!

Great videos. I am helping my artist teenager get started. Should the quarter be annealed before punching? Wouldn't it allow the punch to stay sharper longer?

I don't. I have never needed to sharpen a punch personally.

Hi Tyler, can I ask why did u choose to punch out half inch hole? Would u and could u not do a much smaller hole and stretch out the ring to make a thicker band to show more coin detail? 🤔
@CoinRingsfromTheMint5 жыл бұрын
You could but I like the quarter rings as thinner bands. You can always use a half for a proper thicker band.
@Ken_Dalton5 жыл бұрын
Change You Can Wear yeah OK I get u now. I was just curious,. I'm from Ireland an just stared by Makin wood rings, an eventually metal, n now coin rings,we had alot of different old coins that are outta circulation now but luckily I have a fair few... Have to get my American pals to coin hunt for me tho as it's difficult for me to get my hands on them other wise. If u know any good sellers of coins that be hugely appreciated any advice that you would have.. Ones that are not crazy expensive lol.. All the best with the channel, happy I subscribed last year an have learned alot 👌 God bless

I have a small question, I just started making rings out of everyday quarters, and the problem I'm having is that the serrated lip of the coin is wider. Like the problem you had at about 10:52 of this video. I have been generally following the instructions from your low tech video, "how to make coin rings for cheap". All I have is an anvil, bench vise, and a nylon hammer, any suggestions?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint6 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you are going well with the low tec. Method. Unfortunately you need to do a bit of tooling up to get to the next step. Dealing with that taper requires tools for sure.

Hello Skyler, with that particular coin ring, what was the initial size hole that was punched? ie, 1/2" or smaller. Thanks, great video, curious how long it took to edit.
