Incredibly insightful information Anne-Kathrin! I have never seen this kind of info before and this gives me extra clues as to the whole organisation of a recording session. Thank you!

This is a goldmine Anne. Especially for those of us who don't record live on daily basis. Thanks so much for those tips.

I'm more and more glad that I'm just a hobbyist. Not just that my talent is limited ... I'm also an absolut choatic when it comes to organization: A recording session with me as composer would inevitable end with me crying and everyone shouting and throwing thier instruments at me.

Strange how important is having musician with experience in studio settings, which can interpret what is not really in the score, but your are going for. Intonation is crucial. Thanks for the tips

I think your channel is absolutely phenomenal and that you introduce us to the matter in such a way that, to be honest, I am really happy when you post videos. I've been in the production business for many years, but it's always refreshing to look over the shoulders of professionals during their process, keep it up ✌️💪🎬🎼🎹🎤

That was VERY interesting to watch, thank you! Even though it will probably remain a dream for me to record with an orchestra in the first place, I will certainly remember some of your advice if the day comes. Besten Dank! 🙋♂️🇩🇪🇺🇸

Really great knowledge that you are sharing, thanks for your generosity! Looking at the pre take notes in the sheet, I would love to hear your thoughts on click track usage during orchestral sessions. (tempo changes, time sigs etc)

Thanks for watching! Could you elaborate more on your question? Would love to address this! :-)

@@AnneKathrinDernComposer What are the things to consider in regards to the click in your recording session. For example, do you split up complicated cues to make the job easier for the players, how do you deal with rit. and accel. when using a click, do you ever record cues without a click, what are manageable tempo/meter changes.These are just some of the things I can think about, I'm sure you have a lot real life experience to share!

Wonderful, I’ll be sure to put this on my list of future videos. I addressed some of this in my Q&A video but I’ll go into more depth in the future.

Hello Anne thanks for your videos its very useful ! If you have to pick one among the 3 Strings Cinematic studio sample libraries you have (String 1, 2 or Solo), which one would you pick and why? looking forward your next video on strings libraries thank you again Anne !
@AnneKathrinDernComposer4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not a solo library since they have very limited use. Cinematic Studio series doesn't have 3 string libraries though. It's only Cinematic Studio Strings and their Solo Strings. The other library is Cinematic Strings 2 which - while it was made by the same people - does not actually belong to the Cinematic Studio Series and is the oldest. I' not really sure if I'd go for CS2 or CSS considering they are both fabulous and fill in each other's gaps in sound. I layer both of them all the time to get the most perfect result.

Deciding on the scoring order certainly is very difficult, because of all those different factors you mention in the video. Whilst watching, I was thinking that orchestrators may be very useful in assisting with deciding on the order, would you agree with that? Cheers!
@AnneKathrinDernComposer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your input! Yes, you are absolutely right. It’s not uncommon for orchestrators or even the session conductor to be involved in this process. It’s particularly helpful if the composer isn’t particularly knowledgeable when it comes to orchestral instruments and their individual difficulties. Thanks for mentioning that! :-)
@MusicalWizardryMarcoIannello4 жыл бұрын
@@AnneKathrinDernComposer thank you for making this video, that sparked that thought in my mind 😊 The session conductor can be quite fundamental, actually, as they most likely know the players and their strengths, as well as how they work and react
