This video was right on. I kind of stumbled into this without really knowing it. My mom used to be a homemaker who went shopping all the time. Every day we take her to her favorite stores and she walks around. In the evening she clears the table of dishes and rinses them off. Even though they’re still dirty,,we have to go back and wash them. She feels like she is able to contribute. Thanks for affirming the things that we’re already doing. It really works. My mom has been peaceful and happy. Also, she has been very compliant since we’ve started the schedule.

Oversimplified....or not applicable. What did they do for work? Financial analyst, college professor, research lab scientist, journalist, electrical engineer, criminal attorney, tax accountant- - - these are not occupations that are easily broken down into simple tasks that could provide meaningful activity for one with mild or moderate cognitive impairment

I see what you’re saying. It is true that you’re not going to be able to recreate complex jobs and make them look exactly the way they used to. What I mean is you take inspiration from tasks from those jobs to create an activity or task they can successful at. I believe our folks tend to be starved of purpose and their identify with “dementia friendly” activities. It is still sad that life will look different overall however, that should deter us from trying to create the best experiences we can for our folks
