That’s from a study where people ate more pasta with red sauce on a red plate and less in a blue plate because of the contrast of colors. It got skewed to red increases appetite and blue reduces appetite.

A horrible thing to experience from both parties especially on onset. one sees it slipping away as the other is experiencing it. Look at Biden. Seriously though, as much as you love, only so much you can do. A 200 lb adult is not a 10 lb baby. But you still need to change diapers, wash bathe, feed etc. plus psychotic episodes. Help is available. use it.

Avoid yes or no questions. Give two choices. Hey, Dad, do you want this blue shirt, or this red one? Hold up each shirt for them to see. Or do you want coffee or juice with your pills? Use visuals, speak slowly and never give them too much choice. It is overwhelming.

Get rid of the bread - carbs & sugar. Serve only grass fed protein; eggs, steak etc., you’ll see a remarkable improvement.

My mother sometimes smells so bad I gag. But she absolutely refuses to shower sometimes because she says she doesn’t sweat and she has low activity so no need. She still lives on her own sadly none of these tips work on her.

Whaaaaaat? This needs to be common knowledge. I've watched my grandma and my great grandma slowly slip away from Alzheimer's, and I'm kinda mad I'm just now learning this.

fasting may be what benefit the physical changes in mind. if an invitation to eat return disinterest, it would be ok to set on the table and not upset digestion. a person less active may and may should eat some less. bon appetite. dl

The elderly might have "frozen shoulder" arthritis. This makes it painful to impossible to lift their arms high enough to wash their hair or back. Physical therapy often helps this.

This literally happens constantly. It took forever to figure that out. Just moved in with my dad who has dementia and a various assortment of cancers. Too much liver scarring to get chemo so radiation it is. To be honest, every day he wakes up, I consider it a 'win' when he remembers I'm his daughter and I live here. Nothing could have prepared me for a parent with dementia.

One thing I have learned with my father in law.... Try not to tell them what they need or don't need to do. Ask when. For example, Would you like to take your shower now or after supper? Did you want to brush your teeth before or after breakfast? Pick your battles..... If their activity level & doesn't warrant a shower everyday then don't force it. I told my father in law that the only time I would put my foot down with him was over his health & safety, other than that he calls the shots & I facilitate what he wants done. He told me that was fair. Of course him thinking I was fair only lasted until we couldn't let him drive anymore, or when we said he couldn't live on his own, and of course my favorite that we're robbing him blind, stealing everything including his vehicle, & we're trying to kill him by putting arsenic in his meds. I even found notes at different times saying things like "In the event of my demise...." We lost my father to Alzheimer's after a short battle, he went very quiet & peaceful. My father in law believes he can conquer Alzheimer's, which on one hand is great that he continues to fight but on the other hand he thinks he has to fight us, that is awful. God Bless those dealing with Alzheimer's & Dementia, the patients, their caregivers, and their families!🙏🏼💞🙏🏼💞🙏🏼💞🙏🏼💞🙏🏼

personally, I think that depends on the person. From what I’m reading, it sounds like your grandpa has the type of personality where that would work and/or be funny. Not everyone would take that as well.
