Today we're making a silver ring with a gold bezel! I hope this step by step tutorial will encourage you to try using mixed metals in your jewelry projects. Using solid gold can be intimidating, but it's not that difficult if you follow the rules and take extra care while soldering. I may have overheated my bezel, which melted some of the gold, but now I will know what to do and what not to do when using gold in my jewelry making process :)

Под прозрачные камни в глухих кастах всегда можно вставить обычную фольгу (даже пищевую), чтобы замаскировать патину и усилить блеск. Попробуйте.....................Under transparent stones in deaf castes, you can always insert ordinary foil (even food) to mask the patina and enhance the shine. Try.

Hiya Lady Stardust, Another great video; thank you so much for sharing this with us. What an excellent combination of metals and designs. The flowers work perfectly with the gem. I know they are a standard with you, but they work, as do all your designs. The gold bezel looks fantastic; thank you for the heads up on the melting points; something to watch out for. As someone who can and does still melt silver bezels, it's something I need to watch closely. I would have used smaller pieces of solder and placed them right in the join, much less clear up afterwards. Your choice of stone is so good; that Amerthist works so well. I will try the gold/silver mix; I must perfect the silver/Argentium/999 mix first. You are so advanced. It's great to learn from you. Talking of 'Advanced', I need coffee; again. I got a new phone yesterday; why is there no charger? The new one with a 'C' connecter came today, another expense. The ladies at the pub will show me up and sort it for me. They are quite wonderful helping me like this, not unlike you, dear lady. The Vodaphone shop wanted £25 to load all the apps I wanted. I pay the ladies in jewellery, I get to practice new ideas and display them, and they have the bling; total win/win. Stay safe, Steve xx

Where did you find that ring length calculator app? Is it an app or is it available online? Also, is the gauge of the metal the same as the width?

Hi, I was wondering, typically mens jewlry is larger. Would it be higher profit because more material you can charge more. Also would it be easier to craft since the pieces are latger? Also what type of jewlry sells best for beginner jewlers ring, bracelet, necklace?? Love your videos 😊
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing Жыл бұрын
If you use the pricing formula, then yes, men's rings would be a bit more expensive simply because there would be more material used. But other things go onto pricing, like value and originality, so you can consider these when pricing too. As for the easiness, simple and minimalist jewellery is generally easier to make, but it all depends on the design and complexity of your piece. I wouldn't say that men's jewelry is always easier, but it can be, if you start with simple designs. Good luck!

I don't have one link to the silver soldering wire, but you will be able to find it on Rio Grande website, or Cooksongold or similar in your country. You can also Google 'silver solder wire + your country/city name' and I'm sure plenty of results will pop up. Good luck!
