Recently received your Fishing Log and Black cap👍👍 I know my comment is a bit late, but here goes: I fish small waters in the US (where the carp have never seen boilies, hemp or most ground bait). 95%+ of the Carp caught around me are caught by accident and on corn! While I do add sweet corn to my mix (no need to fix something that’s not broken), I’ve been trying to keep strict to the UK-style (boilies, particle, hook baits, etc…call me stubborn🙄 That said, do you think your mix in the video will work in the waters I fish? Any suggestions for me to use as an addition or an alternative? Will carp be attracted to a food source they’ve never encountered? Thanks much -Joe

Awesome lads! Could you do a video on how you tie on a spomb to your main line? Cheers
@thedutchgamerguy85803 жыл бұрын
Assuming you got a dedicated spod rod, use 20 pound -ish braided mainline. Not mono, the thickness will reduce casting distance. Then take some 50 pound braided leader, and tie it on using a back to back grinner, doing 8 or so turns. Tying knots wit braid requires more turns then mono. When its tied on, wind the leader on the spool 3-4 times, thats enhough. Then take it throug the eyes an back down to the reel. Cut it there. Now tie big figure of8 loop knot, so the spomb can fit through it. Loop it on, and youre good to go! Hope this helps :)

starting to see alot of my local lakes now stopping the use of spodding because its ruining the water where so much is being put in and uneaten because noddies still think that the more bait they put in, the better chance of catching

Totally agree spod warriors everywhere after watching films ? Every water is different some venues are pressurized they see any loose feed as instant trap ?

When it comes to dry particles - I wouldn´t be too bothered about that. (I don´t use them dry) But at least carp have a really strong digestive system (I mean, they eat mussels whole) and digest it in less than 2 hours. Or am I wrong?

When we were on norton we just baited up with pellets! The fish in there are pretty recently stocked and therefore still looking for pellets like they were fed at the fish farm! :)

I have a question. Let’s say you’re buying a jig rod and it says 40 to 130 g. Can u use less than that is it ok.
@stephenhusband3483 жыл бұрын
You can use less then 40g but might struggle with bite indication off the smaller fish at the tip of the rod. A way around this is to use a multiplier reel so you can have your finger on your line constantly to feel the bites through your line. The biggest problem imo, if say you drop down to 10g or even 20g the action of the rod might pull the jig back to much when you twitch ect. Hope this helps buddy

@@mattyctill okay, can you tell me just why i can't use the reel
@mattyctill3 жыл бұрын
@@franstehecsusac3875 spod reels are geared so they have a really fast retrieval rate. This is to make it easier to spod out numerous times in a row without so much effort reeling in each time. The reels are not really designed to play fish on. A spod rod is good for catfish due to the higher test curve. Just pair it with a normal carp reel though.

What sort of rod do u use ?
@thedutchgamerguy85803 жыл бұрын
Any rod with arround 4 to 5 lb testcurve will have the power needed to send spombs flying. For most distance use a 13 foot rod, but theres also 10 foot spod rods available for shorter ranges. A 50 mm butt ring helps a bunch too.

Practice practice practice... Just take a bucket of dirt, put it in the spomb to simmulate a filled one. then focus on the far bank marker. Really try to keep the rod in line with the marker during the actual cast. If the rod sways off, so will the spomb. As for the distance, use the line clip. Keep the weight of the spomb approximately the same every cast, and also the force you put into the cast. Hitting the clip 0.5 to 2 metres above the water yields the most accurate results. Pretty much it, just practice a lot! Let me say again that its really important you keep the rod in line with the far bank marker DURING the cast, pay attention to it. Get spoddin mate!
