Surprisingly powerful magnification. Presumably the magnification is dependant on the diameter of the individual beads? (Which explains why the highest magnification objectives have the tiniest of optics at the head end.) Nice project and thanks for showing how to make a single lens microscope.

Moving the illumination further away or putting a pinhole in front of the illumination will improve your image quality a lot due to increased spatial coherence of the light source. If you try using the sun as the image source you might get a nice image because the suns rays are nearly parralel at this distance. Either that or use a LED with a small pinhole in front. Great project!

Thank you for another fine and informative video. The surface quality may be improved by taking time to slowly cool the bead. Also some photo quality must be lost by viewing thru the slide. However I am most surprised that such a simple device was so effective. I feel driven to make one ..start from scratch, first obtain some nice crystal from the rain forrest...I have now set up both my microscopes on "their" desk in my astronomy observatory and given them their own solar panel, battery and inverter ( I am not on the grid) and they may even get their own computer ( an old one) for imaging ... I am maxing out its RAM to see if it can manage. Keep up the good work.

I used a capillary tube and I made a 1mm lenses with that I'm able to see microorganisms from diatoms, algae cells, paramecium to even bacteria

I make lenses the same way, but for some reason I have a lot of defects on the glass. I can hardly see anything. I used glass bottles because I didn't have anything else. Does it depend much on the quality of the glass? Which glass would be more suitable?
@mustafahb4527
@mustafahb4527 5 ай бұрын
@@rplanet_r of course it depends on the quality of the glasses i tried bottles and regular windows glass but it was both hard to melt and not clear so i tried to use capillary tube and was much better easier to melt and super clear

@@mustafahb4527 I made one from a jar yesterday, it turned out much better. I just don't have anything except bottles and jars. I also saw a video where a guy made one from an incandescent light bulb, he got a good quality image.

Hello microbe hunter, your tiny microscope its sooooooo much powerful,if i put a exact same measure of your lent but if i put two glass ball next to ich other i increase the magnification?

I made a 1mm lens using this method and I had almost no spherical aberration. Maybe it was because I used picture frame glass, which I guess was better quality glass. I could see my blood cells!

U r right bro ...He faked because he had magnification of just 100x...And for amoeba it needs 300x...So he used compound microscope and faked it.. as it need lot of polishing to get that type of magnification.. leunhoek just made 500 lenses in his 91 years life time....If he used this type lens in a day he would have made 5000 lenses😂
