In this video I'm going to show you how to make a speaker from a cup. This might not be the loudest, but you can have quite a bit of fun making this speaker, and the speaker's simplicity might actually fascinate you.
Please put a thumbs up if you liked it, and be sure to leave your thoughts and ideas for improvements. I apologize for any mistakes. Be sure to check out my other videos. If you want to learn how it works and some trouble shooting tips go this link:

I fell into a rabbit hole of youtube videos about sound converting to energy and back, and somehow I stumbled across this video... I gotta say, I have absolutely no plans to make a speaker out of a cup, but this was still entertaining to watch!

i once made sound come up from small motor from toy car and piece of paper just put on top of it. why it worked no idea)
@AHElectronics
@AHElectronics 7 жыл бұрын
Alexandr Martynov That worked using the same principle as this. Motors have coils of wire and magnets inside them. When you send electricity through the motor's coil and magnets starts to vibrate producing the sound. The paper being really easy to vibrate tends to spread out the vibration through out the paper and we thus hear the sound from the motor.

I liked the video because the idea of speakers and amplifiers always confuses me since they're always packaged as a single unit. If this was smaller or even the way it is, the best most scrap st home way to amplify the sound for lightweight and durability for me, was using two super small water plastics thermally infusing the seams with a silicon making squares and cutting the hole with my solder pen and slipping the SPEAKERS inside and sealing them. In doing so, I found ways to make them retractable and hidden and an array of aquatic themselves were available via the dollar store blow up water animals inflatables pool pals and floaties were used. In total the arm bands functioned the best were fastes to refil and a bike patch could be used if they flatten which is also 99 cents. I found every part here at the dollar store so, it was a fun simple project to make the speakers and play with finding amplification. I was so surprised at the outcome of the tiny airfilled plastics.

Sound coming out from the cell phone is a variable current waveform, which generates an induced magnetic field when it passes through the coils, which in turn causes the stack of neodymium magnets to move with the changes in current, which causes the tape (which is the membrane) to vibrate creating the sound. The cup focuses the sound.

It would be much louder if you were giving it more power, like 10 watts. Your phone only provides less than a watt through the 3.5mm jack.

Hello, I'm trying to understand how really works this mini speaker. And I wanted to know, what part had the paperclip ? Thx
@AHElectronics
@AHElectronics 8 жыл бұрын
The paperclip is there just to hold the magnet in place. The mini speaker has the speaker coil that connects to the wires on your phone. When you play a music, your phone sends electrical signals of various strengths to the wires and if you pass electricity through a wire you produce an electromagnet. The wire creates a magnetic field, and since the magnet is right inside the coil, the coil attracts and repels the magnet based on the strength of the electrical signal. This attraction and repulsion causes the coil to move really by a small amount which causes vibration in the cup. The vibrations are interpreted as sound by our ears. Hope that helps :) Also check out this instructable for more details www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-speaker-4/

Wow really nice editing and general video quality! Hey just a suggestion tho, this is only a speaker and no speaker box or cabinet, even if you just mounted it into a tissue box it would sound way better

Does the magnet (or magnets) need to be cylindrical, or can used magnets out of, say, a used hard drive work? I would like to try this out to get a better understanding on the underlying technologies. My goal is to see if I can build a radio AND the speaker out of scrap parts. Great video by the way!

When hundreds of years of work has gone into understanding the manipulation of electromagnetic forces and documenting findings in ways that are accessible to following generations, yeah, it is "so easy".
