Once we go beyond the close range that measures the length of an arm, we need to protect ourselves with a weapon with longer range. An Army Special Forces Survival Instructor, Brane T. Červek, will show you how to make a spear weapon.
Brane offers great tips on what materials are best for making spears using only natural materials. You can also learn about different types of spears like throwing spears and arrows. This is a great video for anyone who wants to learn more about survival skills.
The instructor starts by explaining the historical context of why man had to arm himself. Then he shows the main components of the spear and the natural materials that it's made from. Finally, he continues by explaining the woodworking techniques, and how to process the tip and how to install it.

Nice... but on a much lighter note, white subtitles on a bright background didn't help reading them much, maybe a hue of yellow could help the text to stand out better...

Spears are the most easy weapon to build on the fly, great for survival. But if you have the time and resources I would recommend building a polearm/hammer/axe instead of a spear, because of it's greater utility in combat (there's a reason why polearms dominated the 13th century all the way to the 17th century in terms of warfare)
@CanCan-el3nx
@CanCan-el3nx 2 жыл бұрын
What are you on about? Throughout human history, spears and staffs have been easily the most widely used weapon until the invention of gunpowder. Even firearms were fixed with a bayonet to replicate a spear. Hammers and axes have their uses, but mostly within carpentry (Unless you're battering some nutter in a tin suit).

@@CanCan-el3nx Just because spears were used in ancient times by soldiers and in classical times by peasants, doesn't mean they're the best melee weapon. Also you can't compare bayonets with spears. Bayonets were used and invented to give the soldier a chance on a charge to kill after he was ordered to fire, because the reload time took ages with flintlocks. Why do you think the romans conquered the mediteranean with short swords and shields and no spears? Even in medieval times peasants stopped using spears.

go look up HEMA, spears are easy to use and will usually always win in a 1v1 against an opponent who wields neither spear or poleweapon. Unless an opponent is way more skilled than you, than you'll likely die ;)

Hola. Saludos
