190 to 200 seems really high for pasteurizing. Already have a ink bird and want to make one but I don't understand why you use such a high temperature

Thank you for sharing this with all of us! Gonna have to try one of these out myself now

i can see doing this for grains but coir ? but it is bulk and not just a few bags like w/ the bucket tek ... always enjoy seeing ppls work !!! Thanks !!! good job !

CVG mix can get away with bucket tek. Once you start adding things like manure and other supplements, you will need to pasteurize. I built one of these and it has been providing pretty consistent results so far. When I put my bags of substrate in the tub, I actually flatten them out instead of making blocks.

@@18Hands perhaps you can answer a question , ive been looking for a tek for all in 1 bags , can i just put the loaded bags w/ substrate and grains in my pressure cooker and run it for 90 mins @ 15 psi and be good ? ive always heard to pasteurize substrate Not to sterilize substrate . Thanks !!!
@urban_vanlife19 күн бұрын
@@MostWantedOHAyou can sterilize the bulk substrate too. Specially if you’re doing an all in one and I’m assuming injecting LC…

Great video thanks for the info! Quick question, I’m now looking to build one myself, but I’m struggling to find a wallpaper stripper that goes longer than 70 minutes. Do you have any advice for this?

Why do you pasteurize at 190-200° ? Pasteurization is supposed to be between 140-170°. Is it just because the calibration is off? Please let me know im thinking about building one. Couldn't you put the ink bird prob deaper twords the middle so it will read a little better maybe put a little plastic around it if you have to. If you could help answer a couple questions that would be so helpful.

How good is the sterilization? Do you have problems with contamination?
@18Hands Жыл бұрын
There is a difference between pasteurization and sterilization. This is a bulk pasteurizer for substrate, which keeps the good bacteria and is good enough to kill off anything else. Especially since her mix is only Coir, which doesnt really have much nutrients for mold.

190f is way way way too high for pasteurization..
@18Hands7 ай бұрын
@@xlechasseurx It can be, but if the bin is jam packed, it might be necessary since the temperature has to penetrate to the core of the blocks. If you have a huge pressure sterilizer and you pack it full, you usually have to let it run longer as well. You can however adjust your temperature by pushing the probe into the center of one of your bags. You can then cover the hole once you remove the bag. I hope that helps!
@brabbit77038 күн бұрын
@@18Handsstill way too high anything over 170° for longer than 15min is partially sterilized. 140°-170° is pasteurization temperatures.

Hi there! Great video, but quick question: how are you getting the steamer to continuously steam for 8 hours? I got the same unit but it shuts off automatically after 2 hours of steaming
@joshuafreeman67203 ай бұрын
You get about 16 3 pound bags from that coco.. what size bag is the coco. 1.75 cu ft.

isn't 190 a bit too high? It's my udnerstanding that 160-180 is ideal. Nice job regardless
