I just found your channel through @retrotechjournal, a guy wort of some sponsoring 😉. I love how you share your work, giving insight on how the rigs and winders are made too. I've always wanted to do some stop motion animation myself and even have a camera with some special single shot and onion skin features but never got around to really use this since I had no idea how to move my puppets. Maybe starting of with some Lego minifigs is also not the best way to start and those plastic and wooden drawing models are not suitable for (smooth moving) stop motion at all. Your rigs and armatures look great, I should try making one of these myself so I started binge watching all your videos to get some ideas on how to convert my mechanical and machining skills into some kind of usable armature.

Hi, thank you for putting this video up it's really helpful. I was wondering could you make a video. That maybe goes into more detail on how magnetic eyes are made? How they work and stay in place?
@LarsLeonhard2 жыл бұрын
Some questions, but what an awesome video, thank you so much! My questions are: 1. What clay did you use for the head? Did it dry completely and become solid? 2. When you made the silicone form did you just create a big square of silicone around it and cut it with a knife into the clay? 3. What materials did you use for the eyes? 4. How did you create the interior eye holder that the eye moves around in? Thank you so much! Cheers Lars
@edupuertasfruns2 жыл бұрын
Lots of qüestions. For the head I used Nsp medium from chavant. It is a sculpting plasticine. From this you make a silicone mould and then a poliurethane skull. The shape of the silicone mould is what a box you make dictates. Eyes are casted poliurethane machined round and the socket is like half a joint but made in acrilic

Hi Edu, great video, and beautifully crafted puppet! I'm a bit confused about the eye mechanism, perhaps it's hard to see on camera. I can't tell what's holding the white ring at the back of the eye in place, and what the bigger oval strip/string is doing and where it's hold in place. I can tell that the white ring is holding the eye in place and that the screw hitting the ring edges is stopping it from moving too far but can't tell what's holding the rings itself?
@edupuertasfruns4 жыл бұрын
Hi Roos, what are you working on now? The eyes are hold between the hole in the face, shaped at eye shape and the acrílic in the back. It is like a ball and socket and the screw is just screwed to the face between eye and eye. Hope makes sense
