You are a fantastic teacher! Please do a lot more serger videos, there's a lot of specific tutorials for serging (e.g. how to do a rolled hem) and there are a lot of sew-along videos, but not that many "serge along" videos like yours! A pajama pants tutorial would be awesome :) P.S. can you use contrasting threads? It's very difficult to see on camera right now

i must have fallen asleep at some point watching some other tutorials. when I woke up, I found you! I must watch yours from the start again. I have a Pfaff sewing machine and serger and all the works. sadly, i cannot do much with it. I would love to learn more especially monogramming and all these CD's that do embroidery. and how to add embellishments through the feet while stippling..hahaha, long wish list. so, if you don't have any of these items on your playlist, please consider adding. bc I am going to binge on what you have so far. many thanks ahead of time

You are adorable Ma'am. I love your accent and your voice. I bought a serger 3 weeks ago, took it outta the box, and got scared to death seeing all those tails hanging. I didnt know how to get rid of them, THIS AINT A SEWING MACHINE! 😫 I watched dozens of good BEGINNERS videos before attempting to touch my serger. Ooof it's still in the box. After watching your brilliant video, I decided to get that serger on to the table. It does SO MUCH, HEAVENS THIS IS UNIMAGINABLE. I thought it ONLY CUTS but it does hems too. Do you have videos for BEGINNERS? I really enjoyed the way you explained, the cameraman or cameralady was great too. Thanks for sharing and caring. Wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅🎅🎅🎁🎁🎁 AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS. 👍👍👍🍾🍾🍾 from France

I watched your BEGINNERS videos and holy crumbs🙃 there's so much information and you take us step by step, explaining everything in detail and ITS EASY TO UNDERSTAND. It was a fabulous world tour with the OVERLOCKER. I LOVE YOU COZ Y'RE SO HUMBLE. When you smile the world smiles with you. Tomorrow I must try threading the serger over and over again until it sticks in my ole brain. The joining of the threads was a great tip. No need to get lost in this labyrinth. 70 years is NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN. It's 10.30 pm here and will have to seriously begin, tomorrow morning, to sew along with you. Good night from here. Love your smile. Big hugs. Your fan. 👍👍👍👏👏👏🍾🍾🍾

I don't have an overlocker but an old zig zag. I never made a tee shirt because I was afraid it wouldn't stretch. Now, I think if I do the needle to the right so the left side of the zig zag is on the seam line, it will work. Voila! It won't cut off the extra fabric, of course but, might be ok. Thanks for the video.

Jannyb55: She didn't stitched sleeve hems with an overlocker, she did it using a COVERLOCK that if you look carefully, does not trim fabric and sews with tween needles. She usted 3 machines (overlocker , sewing machine and coverlocker). Hope you're clear now.

How wide did you cut the seam allowance on this demonstration before serging? I have quite a hard time serging those patterns that has a seam allowance of 5/8", because the serger needs to cut the excess off and serge exactly on the seamline.

I've never seen that trick before of pulling the two needle threads forward so you can ease the fabric out, thanks very much! I'm not clear on how you got the overlocker to do two needle thread lines on top for the hem, do I have to disconnect the upper looper and the knife?

@SewingMachineWarehouse
@SewingMachineWarehouse 8 жыл бұрын
Thank you Anthony! I'm so glad that I can entertain while I teach...Learning should be fun! To answer your first question: Rib binding should be two/thirds (2/3) your circumference. Self-banding i.e same fabric, should be three/quarters (3/4) your circumference. Don't forget to add 2 x seam allowance to that. To answer you second question, I sew with many sewing machines...You have to find the right one for the job. If you let me know what your sewing passion is, I can recommend one that will suit your needs. There isn't one machine that suits all people for all needs! Happy sewing! MG

Thank you for the great video, but if you look at most t-shirts, they start the neck binding on the left side (while wearing) seam, not the back. Just a tip.
@deeweaver7958
@deeweaver7958 7 жыл бұрын
I believe that's because in RTW t-shirts the right shoulder seam is joined, then the neckband is sewn on, then the left shoulder and band are joined in one pass. Basically you can put the band seam anywhere you like; I prefer centre back because I have long hair which hides it :)

Thank you for this vid. It would be even better to tell wich way you use the needles, wich is the drawing you use for each part of your t-shirt. I am a beginner with this overlocker machine (PFAFF Coverlock 3.0) and the seller closed his shop just after selling me this machine. So it's difficult for me understanding how it works, and the instruction sheet is brief, when alone. And in French I couldn't find something like your explainations. So thank you all the same.

Hello Margaret, I have just bought pfaff coverlock 3.0 (it's on its way) and have watched your series with great interest. I notice, though, that the coverstitch seems to leave a bump in the centre, the reason I was keen to move hemming stretch fabric from sewing machine to overlocker.
