It was good right up to the end, but you forgot to jump on it - what kind of lousy engineering is that?
@RobertKreegier6 жыл бұрын
Why not put a slot in the other board, too, so the thing can fold up flat? And a handle on top so it can be carried easily.
@Wordsnwood6 жыл бұрын
It can fold flat, just disconnect that brace from the back leg

That John guy sounds like a real hack! Make an easel from scrap ply?? :)

At least he doesn't paint things purple... ;-)

I think the most striking element of this build was the love that went into it. Well done, I hope your daughter loves it.

nice video work for a simple project... emotional standing ovation from Taiwan :)

A nice project that your daughter will probably treasure for years to come and wrapped up in a video with a "homage" to other video woodworkers. Well done, Art!

I left out a whole bunch... My wife asked if I was going to do a little dance like April Wilkerson does... I just couldn't! ;-) At first I was just going to limit it to folks I've met, but I had to do the Purple bit!
@matthewmclaren93536 жыл бұрын
Jimmy would've just spray painted it white, in case some New York hoodlum stole it.

Nice looking Easel Art! Thanks for sharing the video.😎👍JP

Your style of working in the shop matched mine nearly 100% (knocking wood all around and changing the plans are just a few examples). I thought the easel came out looking really nice. Great job Art!

As an artist, I'd suggest row of holes up the outside (upright) supports and two (tapered) pegs to use to provide support for the outside edges of canvases/paintings/boards/cardboard/?? and prevent tilting to the left or right. Like the design but a little help? Maybe a small movable clamp to hold the various sized canvases to the central support at the top?
@Wordsnwood6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the ideas. I'm sure there are many ways that would work. I've seen one where there are slots in the outer legs, which allows for infinite adjustability. This way just seemed simpler -- my daughter is just using this for school. I'm sure a professional artist would have much more stringent requirements! :-D

Fun entertaining video with a good project...thanks. The painting section could of referenced Jackson Pollock ;-)

I may have done some research on him... ;-)

Neat little project. Do you anticipate any problems arising from only having one clamping point for the canvas support shelf? Looks like it could tilt. I'm not sure whether that's a real problem though as I am not an artist.
@Wordsnwood6 жыл бұрын
It clamps really tight. Works so far!

Wordsnwood (Art Mulder) thanks. I didn't scroll down far enough.

See my post Jeff. I give the item numbers for the knob and threaded insert at Lowe's. It's much cheaper to buy as you go than end up buying a kit that has a bunch of stuff you won't use.
@Wordsnwood6 жыл бұрын
That depends on the person. If you are an active woodworker, I suspect that those knobs and bolts will all get used eventually.
@Sebastopolmark6 жыл бұрын
And if you were Art, you would make just this way! !! !!! Hope you checked with your daughter before you "splattered" the easel?? GREAT tribute to the woodworker content providers - spot on.

I have no budget for guest stars...
@KSFWG6 жыл бұрын
With all the money you saved by using scrap wood for the project, there should have been plenty in the budget for a guest star...but then you would set a "precedent" for every video that the budget wouldn't support. ;)
