I made this teapot cozy for my husband, the tea drinker. I quilted some fabric that had baseballs all over it (for the masculine touch!). Instead of sewing up one inch on BOTH sides of the bottom, I sewed only one side, and on the other I put a snap. That way it's easy to remove for filling the teapot and I don't have to untie the ribbon. Thank you for the free pattern and tutorial.

Being from the UK and yes I do use a tea pot when I make tea, I have added a channel for a ribbon one both sides of the your pattern this keeps the ribbon in place and as the ribbon is not a continuous loop I can still gather it, I also made your pattern a little longer for my coffee pot and for my cafetiere (its' a glass coffee pot French) so my breakfast table looks very coordinated in the morning. Keep the amazing tutorials coming. thank you.

I also adjusted a bit for my needs. the tie trim would get lost immediately so I made a channel for the 2 sides, measure up a bit higher than the pot, put ribbon through leaving enough to make a beautiful bow and I did a fancy stitch at middle of each side over the ribbon so it cant get lost. I want to do another one with lace where the piping is, narrow but Victorian style (cause everyone thought I was brilliant making the first one) thanks for something so necessary and yet so easy and making me look like a really creative person. lmy self esteem went back to normal and I am leaving the sewing machine up for the pillow tutorial. Again, thank you so very much.

I’m thinking of adding a couple of matching “belt loops” so I don’t have to “hug” it while tying. Such a pretty fabric, great pattern, and simple made to look fancy. Thank you.

You will be able to tell I am a true beginner here - but I loved this video and bought supplies to make 4 of these! 2 for myself and 2 for gifs. I know how to use the sewing machine but I'm new to anything related to quilting and using batting. Are we supposed to iron the front fabric, fusible fleece and lining fabric together (to fuse them) before cutting out to the pattern or is everything sewn around the edge before adding the binding? That was the part I didn't understand. Thanks.
@ShabbyFabrics2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenna! We're glad you're here. My suggestion would be to iron (and use some light sizing spray, like "Magic Sizing" if you'd like) your front & lining fabric first. After that, you would "sandwich" those with the fusible fleece in the middle, then iron the 3 together. After this, you can choose to quilt the layers together if you'd like. Then you would cut the pattern out of this "quilt sandwich". Your next step would be to add the binding to this. Hope this makes sense! -Michelle

Does anyone have instructions on how to add loops or channel to thread the tie and keep it on?
@ShabbyFabrics4 жыл бұрын
Great question! The way you tie the tea towel is definitely up to you. However, if you would like a particular way to add loops if you youtube videos on how to tie loops a certain way you can most certainly do that. In the video Jen does a regular loop.😊 - Yajaira
