Hi Sage 😊. God knows if you'll ever read this, but i want to put it out there, just in case. Your videos dropped in my vision yesterday and i decided to watch. Approx 5 hours later i think I'd seen every room done, eaten war years, in the 50's, got Grans impression, been to IKEA, FB marketplace, sewn countless curtains....you get the idea. I absolutely loved everything, especially the beautiful you. You're such a pleasant, honest, wholesome young woman, and you made it all come together!. Your channel was 'a find' for me, thank you Mr Algorith. So many smiles. I'm older than you by 20 years, but you gave me the gift of my grandparents home and 'the right ways' of doing things. Which still stand! Just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for sharing both your passions and an unbelievably beautiful heart and smiling face. ❤❤❤

Ooh, this takes me back to when I was a little girl. I loved my little vanity table with the skirt. Mine was white with a sky blue skirt and white polkadots, finished with 3 rows of yellow rickrack. My favourite colours. It was one of the first things my grandmother taught me to sew because it was all straight sewing. I was about 6 when I made it. I had forgotten all about it! I'm bingeing the last year of your uploads (many repeats :) ) as they make me happy. It is a trip down memory lane for me.💗

I think this is your most successful project to date! Not only did it turn out well, but it’s a fantastic idea to “upcycle” an old hall table into a vanity. I never would have thought of that! When I saw you struggling with the mirror height, I had several ideas: Add wood trim to the bottom to raise the mirror up higher, lower the height of the chair (which I don’t think is possible since it’s metal) - or (possibly easiest) raise the height of the entire vanity by adding a 2” knob to the bottom of each leg. All it would take is to drill a small pilot hole into each leg so you can screw in a knob for each. Of course you may wish to adjust the hem of your table skirt if you choose to do this. If the table top water marks are troubling you, you could purchase a piece of heavy, clear plastic from the fabric store and cut it to the shape of the vanity top. Then you could add a piece of fabric, lace, pretty paper, or anything you like and sandwich it between the plastic and the table. As a bonus, it’s water-proof so it will help preserve the quality of the wood top - and is super-easy to wipe down. I did this for a painted desk I owned, and it worked out very well! Regardless, I think it turned out brilliantly and looks lovely the way it is!

Great work, Sage! 😁 For an easily cleaned but also decorative table surface, you might consider using a clear acrylic slab over more fabric or an inspirational photo collage from your favorite vintage magazines. That way, you can avoid refinishing the table.

Love your new dressing table! Idk if you can get it in Australia, but Formby's wood conditioner would be an easy way to recondition the top of your table without having to go to all of the trouble of refinishing it. Also, you can use cheap white toothpaste to remove water stains from wood. It works. I have a bread box my dad made for me. He has passed and it makes this bread box even more precious. I discovered too late that something wet had been left on the top of it. I really quick looked up what to do and decided to try the tooth paste. I was amazed, but it worked!

Hi Sage, you did a wonderful job! I remember the days of having to put my makeup on using a dresser. Then my wonderful husband found a 2nd hand table from someone selling their antique vanity who lived in Hollywood, CA. He paid $85 dollars American and for a young married couple, that was a lot of money. Every time I sit at it, my mind wanders and I imagine any number of famous actresses from the 1940’s who may have owned it. So fun! Anyway, thanks so much for your videos. When I’ve had a rough day, I love watching them over and over again. ❤️ I hope you’re doing well and that school is going well. Take care!

One of my favorites is from the “I Love Lucy” comedy that she had in her and Ricky’s bedroom. Lots of ribbons and lace with layers of veil fabric. How beautifully yours turned out to be! So feminine. Who wouldn’t love sitting there brushing her hair 100 strokes or applying lipstick? Some vintage perfume bottles would look fabulous too! Cute project! Thank you for being back!!!

What a beautiful make over for a well made vintage piece. If you ever feel you need to have your mirror higher you can always make a bracket of 2 wooden flat poles attach to the back of the mirror and then to the back of the table. I used to have a vanity/jewelry table but had to give it away when I inherited my mom's dressers and needed the room. It was basically a small desk style that had a door on one side for necklaces and drawers for rings and earrings with 1 drawer for make up. It wasn't an old one but it served it's purpose. I have since passed on most of the jewelry since I have my favorites that I never take off, the rest is in 1 drawer (the same one mom used).

I had one of these the whole of my childhood and growing up. It consisted of a half circle of thick timber attached to the wall. It had a gathered skirt around it that hung to the floor. It had a nice mirror hanging on the wall that had a heavily decorated edge. I always loved it. I had the idea that lots of people must have had these as they would have been inexpensive to acquire.

Of course it's beautiful. Luv the fabric. I do lots of sewing myself and enjoy the fact that it is not mass produced in the stores. It's a handy skill. I also have a vintage hair brush, mirror, comb and covered box set. However, it's silver plated and requires polishing allot. I get tired polishing and let it sit so long, it looks almost pewter. Now I'm inspired and so I will polish again. Thanks for sharing...
