How to Make a Wood Doormat (woodlogger.com)

Seeing it vertically at the end, I actually think it would make a really nice garden sun/privacy screen, if it was much larger and secured at the sides to a gazebo or similar. The rods make it pretty flexible in terms of its use. You'd even be able to fold it up when not needed, particularly if you used thumb screws at the top, rather than nuts, to allow it to rotate. Nice build. :)

Great mat just a thought wouldn't it look better with some brass tube to fill the gaps on the ends where you can see the bars Regards Len (from UK)

That would be good in my shop. When I drop something it will go in a hole in the mat and not bounce or roll across the floor. Easier to find things that way.
