I just bought an 05 r6 and is in perfect condition only 16k miles, but I was looking at some other r6 bikes at the college today and they seemed so small compared to mine. My bike only has a fender eliminator kit, everything else is stock. Mine seems to be so much more bulky than theirs. I think one was an 06 and another looked like a 2010+

also your start problems check the air filter or the fuel vent you could be getting vapor lock. happened to my bike and I pulled the vent cable out and it was stuck and had excess fuel in it now cold stalls are more rare.

I've done many hoods and things in plasti dip. I found if you throw a layer of clearcoat over it, it solves it completely and gives it a nice finish.

Alot of people around me have been putting it on their rims and dirt bikes. People even put it on during the winter since we are up north to keep the salt off the paint of your car and keep it in good shape. Also, we use it to coat the car if we go on long road trips to prevent gravel marks on the bumpers.

Watch out for cleaning it too. I have it on my jeep and mud stains it and will not come off. But on plastidips site they have this "dip cleaner" that is suppose to clean the dip free of a lot of stains.

i have some experience with plasti-dip my friend and i did made his car black and a year and a half later he wanted to peel it off because he wanted his white car back and it was almost impossible to take off the plasti-dip even with a heat gun and rubber gloves we spent 2 days peeling it off bit by bit...so if you're going to plasti-dip don't leave it for too long because its a bitch to take off

Hit it with goo gone and it melts plastidip.It also needs a lot more coats for it to peel off easy...like 5-6 coats worth to build up thinkness so it won't break apart when peeling.

Plasti dip is easy to do on your own, you just have to know how to do it properly. The DipYourCar channel has some really good tutorials. I would also recommend doing it in warm weather or a warm environment. The heat helps the paint dry faster and more evenly. I sprayed the wheels of my car (about 5 coats each). They have experienced every type of weather and thousands of highway miles and still look the same as when they were first painted (about 8 months ago). But like HondaMotto said below, it needs to sit and bond to the material for a while before you wash it or anything.

Chase, I see that you have a tank pad on top the Plasti dip, but how about stomp grip pads on the sides of the tank. Do you think the Plasti Dip can handle the stomp grip?

The best use of plastidip I've done so far is on the inside of my clear windscreen and engine/clutch covers. It was really easy to tape things off, apply 4 or so coats of the stuff and come out with a clean looking product. The windscreen and covers still look great after about 1 year of daily riding.

i love plasti dip, i call it a 5ft'er everything up to 5ft it looks great, but very close it has a texture and can be damaged quite easilly, but also really easilly repaired! durable is correct, i have stripes on my car, and wheels are done, my frame of my DRZ will soon be dipped love the stuff, and they have so many colors! one thing to remeber is that it dries quickly but doesnt fully cure for a day or two depending ont he humidity, when not fully cured you can leave finger prints in it

14:33 "there is a quality level difference" i have to disagree here, I personally don't like plastidip because i think matte looks cheap... however i have used plastidip straight out of the rattle can and if you do light coats it looks no different than when I've used it out of a paint gun. so to me, there is a real quality difference in painting by yourself compared to having it professionally done... but not with plastidip

You can buy a spray can of matte black for around 7-10 dollars . you should be able to use that to touch up scratches

Plasti dip is basically a spray-able rubber. It's not more durable then paint, it is able to be peeled off ( given some extreme force if applied correctly ). The lines and the peeling near the screw you're talking about shouldnt normally happen. Probably because they didn't apply the Plasti Dip correctly. The More coats, the more durable it is against those "lines" and scratches. Plastidip is great, it's just that Zen Motors probably didnt apply the plasti dip correctly

Hey chase I just wanted to let you know a huge help to this problem is doing like 3 or 4 coats of clear over the plati dip. I know cuz before i got my black arai corsair v, I plasti dipped my bell black and it would come off in spots just like you mentions and then i clear coated it and i never had to redo the plasti dip.

Im new to bikes and plan on buying a yamaha r6. I want to start with the 600cc bcuz i know a liter bike would be waaaaay to much for me as a starter. Rides fine, usually a huge rooster tail which can annoy the shit out of drivers behind you, but generally makes them back up to an actual stopping distance which is nice. (heavy rain btw, light rain is insignificant in this case)

This spring my roommate wants to do the top matte black too and I said if he is willing to pay for the plasti dip fine.

DipYourCar.com sells the kit to do it yourself, for real cheap. They also have youtube vids that cover every issue or question you might have. They sell a product that you can spray on the plastidip and it allows you to restore the dip in that certain area. Basically it liquefies it again temporarily, and then allows you to "fix" any flawed areas. Love the bike. I was going to do mine in green, but had a friend that wanted to paint my bike for free, so......yeah. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers.
