This was really informative. Thank you for sharing your process. I can see how foam would make a much lighter puppet. It would be nice to see a paper mache version.

VERY cool way to make hair!! Thanks for sharing that technique! Hand puppets (with heads made from papier mache) were the first kinds of puppets I ever made as a kid. Gosh I wish I still had some of them...but I think my mom got rid of them when I moved out of the house.

Adam I gotta admit I miss building puppets. but after coming back to this video is brining the urge of wanting to get back into creating some again after 3 years break to focus on school. thanks for making these adam. :)

Magnificent job Adam! Looks just like him. I have a new skill to learn for my repertoire. Thanks for sharing this. OK you asked so here it is. I would love to see a gypsy fortune teller whose mouth moves. Hoping it's not asking for much, but I've dreamed of having a fortune teller to match my other puppets and the addition would make a world of difference in my upcoming puppet music video show. Thanks again...

adam, if you had to perform a live hand puppet alone, do you recommend using your skilled hand to work on the mouth or the hand?

There's a puppeteer local to me that uses live size puppets made of paper machee. I don't know how viable or hard this is to make but these two characters have been going since the 90's so I assume they can take a beating.
