I was inspired by your video and did the same thing with my wired doorbell. For anyone trying to do the same thing I replaced the lighted button with a non lighted one on the wired doorbell to save the battery AND I bought the biggest, goofiest wireless doorbell to make the modification of the body easier (fitting the wires and drilling the hole for the wires and soldering the wires to the button contacts).

Did something similar, but here in the Netherlands a doorbell runs of a 8 volt power supply in the fuse box. used the old coil in the bell to activate a reed contact, connected it to the button and bob's your uncle! I could have taken the PS out and connected it like you did but like to do it the easy way. Keep up the good work!

I live in Canada and there is a doorbell transformer I own as part of a theatre sound effects board and it is capable of outputting 8, 16 and 24 V 60 Hz. I have a door bell and a simple door buzzer wired up to it and the buzzer takes a smaller voltage than the relatively standard 24 V that most low-voltage devices (furnace thermostats, central vacuum activate current, door bells) take here in North America.

smart idea to get a set and then customise it yourself with the brass piece. looks really nice.

If I was to do this to another type of transmitter than the one you are using, what am I looking for to attach it to?

***** Hi John, the wireless part is made by Byron. There are a few options however this is the one we used. doorchimesuk.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=708&osCsid=5dbde1650d2b0b7ba6ddacb51792902d The range is cut down quite a bit by our thick walls however will reach anywhere within the house.

Thanks for the vid - I have just finished mine and reused our 50 year old brass bell! . I am not advertising- Im sure several suppliers offer things like this -- however I used this product (they are also called wirless extenders). I didnt go for the plug in wireless speak though, just normally battery one as i dont have a discreet socket... doorchimesuk.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=706

Hi. Which model of push bell did you use. The one I have is an electronic version so has no way of connecting an external button. Cheers.

Do you know what model number the wireless doorbell is? I'm trying to find one with the additional bell push terminals but don't really know what to search for! My fiance and I have just bought a victorian house so your channel is my new favourite thing!

I tried this but the wireless doorbell kit I bought included a pushbutton with a little logic board in it and no way I could figure out for it to work off of the traditional push button. We tried to wire it up but couldn't get it to work. Is there a specific wireless kit that has the connectors for the traditional bell wires to trigger it?
@julieseymour53442 жыл бұрын
I'm having a similar problem. I don't suppose in the 6 years since you posted this, you might have found a wireless kit with traditional connectors vs a logic board?

you may have not thought of this but many people are resistant to wireless devices. Does this device only broadcast when pressed or does it broadcast all the time and just sound when pressed?

I wasn't expecting these white cheapish receivers go ding dong like that! I wish my microwave would sound so pleasant instead of the high pitch beep beep the whole neighbourhood get annoyed by it!

Looks like this is all you need to convert the wired signal into the unit and then back out as a wireless frequency. doorchimesuk.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=706
