FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Hey everyone, only a few months ago I was able to reply to every comment left on this channel-but that’s becoming increasingly hard. Its a good problem to have (I suppose) but it still tears me up not to be able to reply to you all considering you have, after all, put in the time to leave a comment--so as a half measure I’m pinning this FAQ here. Also for all of you just leaving words of encouragement (i.e. not questions) I can’t express how much those mean to me--and just know I’m reading them even if I can’t respond to them all anymore and they mean so much to me! Hey, using references is crucial to all the artists, even the ones who have worked for years, obviously tracing like the guy of this video is not helpful at all but, by using references you can understand how the things work, so please use as much references as you need, is the only way to get better as an artist. (sorry if there are any misspellings, my first language is spanish).
@user-hy7jm3ws3m3 жыл бұрын
He said it’s for beginners 😐
@zarlacarldonnato58813 жыл бұрын
@@user-hy7jm3ws3m I think that the only thing for beginners is the way that he teach how to use procreate but not the draw itself, the only way to learn to draw properly is by learning the bases of the draw like, perspective, anatomy, form and structure, light and shadow, etc. All the begginers have to start by learning that, and not just tracing anything they like, because if you trace you aren't learning anything. There are other ways to draw what you like without tracing it, you can analyze the object and try to draw it in a piece of paper or in a program like procreate without seen it, that way you learn about how is composed and later you can use it in a different draw or in a different perspective.
@user-hy7jm3ws3m3 жыл бұрын
@@zarlacarldonnato5881 I agree you shouldn’t get too used to tracing since you won’t be able to draw anything on your own then so you’re right but then again it depends if you wanna be an artist or if you’re just doing it for fun

I mean fuck I’m an artist and I’m confused as to what the problem is. This is how art is done... we use tools in an art program. We don’t (or shouldn’t) torture ourselves so dipshits online will stop refusing to call it art. This is exactly how you do art, you use brushes and textures (and yes, sometimes tracing! The horror!) to create the visual illusion of a thing. That’s literally what art is.

I follow this tutorial in cyan blue and omg it was so great But I couldn’t find the paper brush so I made it water and a man on a boat fishing. Then I went to find a brush for the stars so I went to procreate pro swap brush and I found the paper brush! Lol (yes I do have procreate pocket, I just don’t have an iPad Pro) anyways I’m going to do the stars on my own with monoline brush and I just subbed! Thank you so much for this tutorial

this is cool and all but ur gonna gain barely any experience from doing this, I’d recommend using references instead of tracing and not using things like that tree brush just to cheat around drawing things you don’t like. You’ll get yourself stuck in a box because you only know how to do things when you have these cheats. Actually learning is so worth it and so much more creative and meaningful
@whatthescallop..4 жыл бұрын
I agree with the tracing- but the brush is part of a pack you downloaded and have permission to use. You can use the brush, and I personally use it all the time. Yes, you do gain experience by learning the process, even if you don’t think you do. Just keep trying out different things that you like until you find what you like the best, and this process is part of that cycle.
@MonarchMercury4 жыл бұрын
@@whatthescallop.. I understand that now, I guess if you’re ok with never learning how to draw trees then it’s fine. I don’t think there’s anything morally wrong with the tree brush to clarify, what I meant is that you can’t learn through using shortcuts like that. That being said it is just a personal choice when it comes to using things like that. Since I am only a young character designer (and have never used these kinds of tools before) I can’t say what’s best for anyone else! as long as you are enjoying making what you do and not doing anything bad then I’m fine with it, just personally wouldn’t do it myself
@istoleyourjams2704 жыл бұрын
I mean I also felt a bit ticked off by tracing but the tree brush can be used if you wanna, some people know how to draw damn good trees but drawing few might take quite some time so the tree brush is the best for saving time. You can still trace the images like in the video if you want to get used to the new drawing program or just digital coloring and stuff as a whole as it is a good practice for coloring composition and using brushes. Edit: forgot to mention if you're gonna trace it should be only for personal use or with credit
@begonestink29564 жыл бұрын
Agreed, you're not going to get anywhere by tracing.
@MonarchMercury4 жыл бұрын
@@istoleyourjams270 ooo I get this, I suppose maybe the tree brush wasn’t as constricting as I thought! I also think tracing can be good practice to an extent, it definitely shouldn’t be overused and once again I feel like it traps your creativity into whatever free to use images you can find. I myself am not a tree brush person, but I am now finding myself respecting it more, thank you guys!

This is really cool! The only thing I'm kinda against is taking somebody's photo and tracing. It's the same as stealing somebody hard work. Also you can use it as a reference, that's okay and I like how you used the brushes and stuff! But maybe tell them to break down the shapes of the photo instead. That's teaches people. Tracing is not art. You seem like a really nice guy just please don't trace and if you do credit the photographer! Thanks

Unsplash is a website that shares stock photos that can be used for free for commercial and noncommercial purposes. That’s why he specifically mentions that website. It’s very common for artists to use websites like that. It’s not the same as using someone’s photo from Instagram or google images.
@axo_axolotl44223 жыл бұрын
@@MEOWalina Still the person who took /made the photo should be credited and tracing is just not the same as doing it you're self. Tracing teaches you nothing. You should be breaking down the shapes of a picture for practice tracing the lines is just stealing. Please make your own sketch, and then do your own line art but it sounds like a good website for reference photos
