Who WOULDN'T want a drum sander? Anyway, a good practice is to glue sacrificial pine to each end. Serves two purposes. 1) It keeps from blowing out the end of your cutting board, and 2) It helps eliminate any potential planer snipe. Afterwards, just crosscut it off.
