Just use a nail, heated over your stove burner. This way the hole will be pretty much round and most importantly, edges will be 'cauterized' and therefore wont chip.

tried this and it didn't work very well so i got my ryobi drill and drilled a 3/16 hole with the nut behind the belt. Works awesome

I really appreciate you making this how-to video! I decided to watch it, replay it and follow along! After widening the hole with pliers, I reinserted a matching-sized Center Punch, and carefully cut more excess leather. Leaving the Center Punch in place, I used a 1,000 Grit block sander, I smoothed out the area prior to adding Leather Conditioner! 👍

Nice way to do this. I have another method I use. I just mark where I want to put the hole and then put an appropriately sized drill in the electric handheld drill on the workbench. Drill right through, finish hole with a file. You might want to try some practice runs on an old POS belt you don't care about. If the leather has engraved designs, it can slip off. Might try a starter hole with a good sized nail and hammer.

Step 1, go to a public gun range. Step 2, pick up some .22 caliber brass. They are about an inch long and a quarter inch diameter. There will most likely be a lot of it. Pick up several. Step 3, lay your belt out and fold the punched end over far enough to where you want your new hole(s). Step 4, insert the .22 casing with the open end down through the hole. Step 5, hit it with a hammer. (Its best to do this on a piece of scrap wood). The sharp edge of the casing will punch a perfect smooth hole in the leather, and if you fold your belt right your new holes will be lined up and spaced perfectly with the original holes.

Great tip,not thought of the bolt and nut idea My issue is that I am a 36in waist and the belt I bought is 38 to 40 inch. If I don't have that extra hole, then its mild irritating and embarrassing to keep pulling up my jeans ,ha,ha I am a bit worried as this is a nice leather belt and don't want to spoil it. Have to take my time of course

Me and my mom had gone to Sreeleathers during sale. Tried on a few belts and chose two of them (one was a solid peach one which was wider and other one was multi-colour with stars on them and thinner). She liked the belts I chose but suggested to buy bigger sizes.
