Is there any particular reason why your thinner wires are about a yard long each - is there a science to this length or just guess work? Thank you.
@irfaanxlcr8370Ай бұрын
@RobertsBulgaria Hello and greetings. Yes, there is a science behind it. It's not just guesswork or averaging arbitrarily. It has to be at least 29 inches long. I can't remember the exact science, but we did it in college a long time ago. Sorry, I don't remember the specifics about it. The FM antenna and the AM antenna are different from each other. If you remember, when we had the transistor radios back in the days, we had a long pole for the antenna. Thank you very much for watching and for your comment. Have a great day.

@@irfaanxlcr8370 Yes, I had an old SHARP radio cassette player that the retractable car type aerial broke off and I later found it in my Father's shed with a drill bit pushed into the hole and a length of copper electrical wire with a bared end wrapped around it and it worked a treat. My digital clock radio only has a single thin wire for an antenna and I found a couple of never used plug in antennas yesterday which I haven't unravelled yet, but I think one is a T with places to put drawing pins to keep it in place on a wall etc. Just trying to get the never used radio function on an old Philips CD/DVD receiver working is all. Thank you.

@RobertsBulgaria Yeah, I hear you. Even an old wire coat hanger could work as an antenna for an AM radio. Back in the 60s, my aunt had a radio which was battery-operated, of course, and it had AM as well as Short Wave and Long Wave. I don't know if you remember those frequencies. Late at night, we could listen to radio stations from London on the shortwave band. Take care have a great day

Which is wire use in this video coaxial cable name 😢
@irfaanxlcr83703 ай бұрын
@@loremgameryt10 It's actually called cross connect wire. It's what the phone company uses on the cross boxes and frame equipment. You can use any wire like that this one is 22 or 24 gauge. If you have any phone company technicians driving around the neighborhood just ask them for a piece of cross connect wire. Otherwise any hardware store or electrical store would have small gauge wire. Let me know if that's useful information for you. Thank you very much for watching have a great day
