New week, new tutorial! This is an off-shoulder dress I made for my LA trip, pretty close resemblance to the original?? Hope you enjoy! If you're new around here, hi!! I have one more tutorial coming soon involving neoprene so please send me your productivity vibes. Don't forget to subscribe :) Love you all!!

I love the 2 so far they're just so pretty and girly... Obviously they're dresses 😂😂😂 I think the tank top will be the first one I attempt though. Just because I have some neoprene 😁 xx

Love your hairstyle and beautiful natural dark hair. Gorgeous! You're wonderfully creative and make complex designs understandable. My grandmother used to study elegant dresses, then go home and cut a pattern out of newspaper and recreate.

I'm definitely going to pull an all-nighter making this dress as well because I'm going to California next week for my birthday, but I have several exams to study for :')

I have some questions. What size is the dress that you made for yourself? And how can I alter the width of the pattern piece for the skirt so that it's gathered with some fullness but not too much. I feel like 60" is a bit too much for my small frame. What I'm asking is how many inches do you recommend I add to my waist measurement (same for the shoulder ruffles) to achieve the perfect amount of gather for the skirt? :) I hope I explained myself clearly enough. Thank you!
@withwendy9 жыл бұрын
+Danielle G Hi! Yes totally, if you want it to be less ruffled go for 1.75x the waist instead of 2x. Since my waist is roughly 30" and the skirt width was roughly 60" that was a 2x ruffle. You can keep cutting it down from there bit by bit if it's still too gathered, just be careful not to go too small because then it wont have the fluffy shape anymore. I'm cheering you on through your exams!!!

Hi Wendy! Loving all the new pieces that you have showed us so far. It would be great if you could you do a video on choosing fabric and type of interfacing for clothe making! As all the websites I have been to cannot accurately show the type of fabric used as there is very limited visual examples. Thanks a lot!!! Fan from +65 =D

absolutely love this! how would you make the top part so that its more covered in the back? im not really too fond of showing the back :P
@withwendy9 жыл бұрын
+connie ren If you add a piece that looks similar to the front on the back, you would just sew it along the sides of the body and the diagonals would leave arm holes, May take a bit of adjusting to get the armholes the right size but that would cover up the back.

Hi, I absolutely love this tutorial. I just wanted to know if this dress would fit a size 8?
@withwendy9 жыл бұрын
+Halley February Of course! The two pieces you'll have to adjust is the waistband (make sure it is your waist plus another inch) and the body piece (make sure it covers you from armpit to armpit).
@debbievidal95368 жыл бұрын
I love your videos. I'd like to know how you calculate the size if your pattern pieces. what size are you? how do I make the pieces my size? ....I'm much bigger! Thank you x
@withwendy8 жыл бұрын
+Debbie Vidal I always model it off of clothes I already own! Pattern pieces just need to align with existing clothes, with an extra half inch on the edges that you will be sewing on. If you're scared to cut things too small, go on the generous side since it's always easier to downsize than upsize.

I would love to make that dress it is beautiful. What are the exact measurements for the pattern of dress? I see that you included the fabric yard measurements but not the actual patterns.
@withwendy9 жыл бұрын
+Sabrina Mendez All of the pieces are rectangular so just needed length and width specifications in my blog post (in the description), except for the body piece. For that I updated the blog just now to include the width at the top since before I only had the width at the bottom. Hope that helps!

What size dress does the dimensions on your website make?
@withwendy9 жыл бұрын
+Lanetta Virgil I'm typically a size 6, fluctuating between a small and medium. If you need to modify up or down, the most important pieces to change the width on would be the body piece and the waistband. Make sure the body piece is 6 inches shorter than your waist measurement, and make sure the waistband is an extra inch on your waist measurement.
@Lvirgil359 жыл бұрын

I want to make this dress, but I want the skirt to be longer how do I adjust it
@fashionaltitude34417 жыл бұрын
Since her measurements were 19"tall x 60" wide, just adjust the 19" to the length you see fit! You'll need more than 1.5 yards of fabric but the extra fabric is totally worth the beauty of this dress longer! :)
@ft46868 жыл бұрын
I'm not comfortable with backless..... How do i make this to a covered back dress???
@withwendy8 жыл бұрын
+Fedora Tan YY if you replicate the front shape in the tutorial, cut it in half down the middle and sew it to the back using the same method as the front. When it's zipped up that centre split will be closed, but will be able to open when you unzip to help you in and out of the dress.
