VERY impressed with your motor mount design and fabrication. That engine ain't going nowhere. I am very impressed with your knowledge and skills I've been fabricating over 55 years. I like it when I hear people comment about my work"that looks factory made" in other words not a cobled up piece of crap.

Have any experience pouring polyurethane to rebuild an old engine mount? I'm having bad luck matching my stock mount with off the shelf mounts that don't line up on the engine side though they're supposedly for my engine. Though the old rubber is falling apart I surprisingly don't have vibration problems, I'm just doing the transmission mount and don't want to do the work again in a few years if the motor mounts get worse.

When you are cutting/drilling a series of holes and each one is going to be larger is there a formular to determine the location of each hole, or do you just use the size of the drill bit or say die and place it, in the next location and fit it? Example: A triangular piece of material and you want the holes to be larger and in proportion as you move from the smaller to the larger end. Thanks. I hope I was clear enough.
@MakeItKustom2 жыл бұрын
I wish there was. I just draw a border then play with hole sizes that are spaced nice and are consistent on the border

I am not the guy who goes crazy about everything being of one brand, but I do question why, since you are building from scratch, aren't you using a Ford engine and tranny?? Again, I am not a "purist", but I think if I were building something from scratch, I'd try to make it all of one brand!! Most times people tell me they use chevy engines due to them being a dime a dozen and more than that because they are easier to fit into tighter packages... I very typically see Chevy engines in 20's - 40's Mopars and the cheap and tight thing falls to the BULL SHIT bin as 318's and 360's were more than plentiful for decades!!!! Even overdrive trannies!!!! And if they were really worried about space, a 904 tranny is smaller than a 350 GM!!! The thing that really made me question this is that if you had used a Ford engine, the dizzy is in the front of the engine, so no need for the sculpted firewall...
@MakeItKustom3 жыл бұрын
I think when it comes down to it there’s no right or wrong way it’s just whatever somebody wants. I have no opinion one way or another. I love a beautiful engine just as much as anybody else but a small block Chevy can still look interesting. This is a customers project
@gregf57303 жыл бұрын
The small block chevy has more speed equipment available for it and it's cheaper. Also availability, remember the last gen1 small block was built in 86? The real question is have you ever tried to sell an early ford hot rod with a small block Ford? I have and it took time. If the car had a SBC it would have sold more quickly.
