+Sailrite I have a question about the sewing foot. I, too, am on an old machine. I think it's fine, but what exactly is that foot? Is it an upholstery foot, special, or what? I did a search on your site and did not see any sold individually anyway. A lot of what when on seemed to be going right along because of that foot "doing the work," as she said. Thanks!
@skenney83258 жыл бұрын
+SKenneyGIrl Tan My machine is also a Singer, going on about 25+ years, just FYI. I am going to look for that foot, but would love some input! Thanks again.
@lindaschenk11847 жыл бұрын
You do not need a walking foot. Your regular sewing foot will work just fine so do not go out and purchase a foot. More than likely you will not be able to find a walking foot for a home sewing machine. Most are available for industrial type machines.

Hats off -- however! I did have more trouble understanding this than I did with the chair itself. I have sat and watched both videos through all the way so that I kind of know what is coming or what to expect. I expect to a lot of the marking and notch cutting! Thanks! Can't wait to get started on a similar [antique] chair that I have had for years. Thank goodness it doesn't have that back cushion!! I have so many pieces that need to be redone, I hope I can figure this out. Oh! I have a furniture dolly, bought at Harbor Freight for $8.00 that would be so easy to turn into the rolling table that would be so easy and make this so much easier. It would already have the frame and wheels -- I want to add a piece of plywood and maybe build it up -- or just sit on a low stool and leave it as is. Anyway, a simple way to make the turn-table. Thanks again.

Is there advantage to using foam piping instead of polyester piping/cording? I am working on an indoor cushion with heavier upholstery fabric. Excellent & detailed video. I learn a lot & get inspired from the Sailrite YT tutorials!
@SailriteDIY2 жыл бұрын
Foam piping works well, but is not as soft as a "Medium Welting Cord" which is made of a polypropylene filler. So... the medium welting cord, in my opinion feels a little more comfortable than the foam cording.
@SailriteDIY2 жыл бұрын
I notices that you asked about Polyester cording, I seldom use Polyester cording, but I know it too is soft and could be used.

Question. When cutting boxing, it seems to me that with 5” cushion, let’s say, cutting 6” boxing, which is 5” plus seam allowances, is too big. Not sure of the exact formula, but, illuminating the seam allowance on the boxing only, seems to make for a plumper, tighter fitting cushion cover. (This would apply to 4”, 3” etc.) What’s your formula. Thanks love your videos, and I purchased the Fabricator from Sailrite and LOVE it.

thank you again....i just finished the interior cover for a dense foam dog bed using your method for corners and zippers, and it worked out great!!!! i too did a wrap around zipper with the fold that goes over the top and bottom of the zipper as it allows greater ease of getting the foam in and out when needed. i do have one question....where the fold overlaps the end of the zippers, there is a opening in the fabric as i did not sew the top cover over the end of the fabric with the zipper ends...is that normal or should i sew it. i don't recall seeing that in the video. once again thanks a bunch!
@SailriteDIY7 жыл бұрын
The folds over the ends of the zippers are simply a section of the boxing folded over to provide a pocket, the sewing of the boxing to the plates secures these pockets in place. I hope that helps answer your question.
