Good sir (I couldn't find your name anywhere), I've just made this bacon while my chick'n breast is sitting in the fridge overnight and OH. MY. GOD. IT IS DIVINE. It scares me how good it is: the crispness, the saltiness, the smoky flavour, that satisfying crunch when you bite into it...just wow. You've outdone yourself. I made a BLT for my partner and she said I've ruined other sandwiches for her because all she wants is this now. You are a credit to the food industry, keep doing what you're doing, you wonderful man.

I came here from the seitan making video cause im a sucker for using scraps and these came out quite tasty ! Extremely time consuming but thats just the nature of pan frying a big batch of anything. That was interesting ! I really like Maggi sauce and I'm amazed that it's not more known here (France). It has a nice "umami" taste that is great to cook vegetarian or vegan food. I used to make lasagna by frying tofu in olive oil with chopped onions, garlic and Maggi sauce. But this is a whole other level ! I still have to try the home made seitan, but I'll definitely keep some starch to make it ! PS: Love the (lovely) "healthy bacon" funny moment. Thanks for the video! A dosa (from Indian cooking) flat pan could be used. Non stick versions are available world wide. Dosa experts first cool the pan with a damp wad of cloth and this makes spreading the batter easier. The pan is then covered. Also the bottom of the dosa will be really flat. The batter is spread with the back of a spoon. Water is sprinkled to prevent cracks. Oil is drizzled around the edges of the spread batter so the dosa releases from the edges. It seems many makers of fake or substitute bacon like to use coconut and kashmiri red chili powder besides garlic powder which is the main flavouring.

Thanks. Yes, a dosa pan would work great. I would love to get one.

Oh wow! Your channel is solely plant-based! I've been thinking about transferring from vegetarianism to veganism, and your videos are very interesting to me.

I made the seitan with spelt because I am allergic to conventional wheat. The texture was good, but it lacked flavor. Even after cooking it in the broth for over an hour & letting it rest in the broth in the fridge for a couple days. I am making the “bacon” now. Doesn’t look as good as yours, but it is a decent substitute.

I haven't tried spelt myself. But this basic seitan process does need more seasoning when you use the shreds in your final dish. I like to use this for bbq, tacos, etc. where I am adding more flavors. You can try to season the seitan with flavorings cut into the dough before simmering to get more flavor.
